It's this kind of thing that bothers me about Blu-Ray. People should not have to deal with these kinds of problems. Sure, they can be the occaisional bad disc, but it's more widespread than that I think.
I own over 400 blu-rays and only one I've bought so far didn't play due to being a bad disc so I think blu-ray actually has better QA than DVD.

I should clarify, I meant to say the hardware updates and spec modifications are something the consumer should not have to deal with. As a technical person, I appreciate them, but most are not technical. I don't think it's bad software either.

Right... I popped it back in my player again today as I planned to send it back and I got it to work...
Very different this time, though. It displayed something like "downloading new content from the Internet" and then streamed a Scot Pilgrim trailer.

So, this leads me to believe it was a bd-live issue. Perhaps my net connection went down the first time.

I really dislike bd-live for this. I seriously don't think we need it. Far easier to just browse the Internet in the usual manner if we want such material!
