Default Looking for a New TV. Need some Input Please

I've been thinking about to upgrade to 1080p for a while now, Bestbuy currently have no interest until Jan. 2011 so it seem like a good time to buy.

I don't want to go any bigger than a 50"

They have a LG - 47" 1080p Flat-Panel LCD HDTV Model: 47LC7DF currently on sale for $1499.99 which seems like a good deal.

I want to pick a TV that will last a while, so I guess my questions are as follows.

Does anyone have or know about this TV?
What are the Pros and Cons?
What TV would you recommend over this one and why?

Currently I have a Philips - Ambilight 37" 720p/1080i Flat-Panel LCD, Sorry i don't have the model # off hand. It's been a great TV, but would like 1080p and something a little Bigger.

I'm looking forward to reading your replies.

For the price, I'd try to stick with a more prominent brand, I just don't trust LG or Westinghouse, or what I call the Target brands like Olevia and Magnavox.

Since you already have a Philips, I would recommend the Philips 42" Ambilight...42PFL7432 I think is the number - I've been looking into that one a lot lately as my next choice for moving on up, as I'm also stuck in 1080i still.

They go for around $1500, which is my budget as well.

If you wish to save a little option and forgo the Ambilight feature, the
42PFL7422/37 has the exact same contrast ratios for around $1300.

Panasonic plasmas also come highly recommended, but Im a stickler for LCDs.

I thought about going with another Philips, I've been looking at Philips - Ambilight 2 47" 1080p Flat-Panel LCD HDTV Model: 47PFL7432D too.

Aha, same thing, just 5" bigger - by all means, for the price, I can't really say theres anything better, unless you want to upgrade image quality in exchange for screen size, then Sony or Samsung 40 and 42s would come to mind.

Well I doing some research it sounds like Sony - BRAVIA XBR 46" 1080p Flat-Panel LCD HDTV, is one of the best LCD TVs out there. I'm now thinking about going with this one, it's a big jump in price, but with no interest until Jan. 2011, i might as well buy the best. I guess I'm going to have to go to Bestbuy and take a look at some.

Can't go wrong with Sony LCD.... I picked up 40" last week after debating between the LCD I chose and Panasonic 42" 1080p Plasma... Ended up with Sony and very impressed !

I would definately got for a Sony LCD. I personally have the KLV-46X2000U (a UK model) and have had it for well over a year and it has functioned very well indeed. I think the equivalent US model was the XBR2, so the XBR4 will be more up to date... maybe equivalent to our new X3500 series.

Blu-ray and Sky HD (1080P and 1080i respectively) both look stunning. You will of course have to tweek the setting somewhat to get the best out of it, but some time taken doing this is time well spent.
