Default Who's outselling who, Blu Ray or HD players?

I have not purchased a Blu ray player yet, however, I am a huge Sony fan. Although I've sold most of my old Sony products, I currently only have the Sony STRDG1000 receiver which I am trying to sell. I want to make room for a new Sony receiver, particulaly the top of the line ES model that decodes the new surround sound formats for Blu Ray discs. In addition, I am keeping my eye on the Sony BDP-S500 blu ray players. Basically, I'm waiting for prices to go down, but I fear the day when consumers are given the bad news that HD DVD players will be the only format available and blu ray movies will become obsolete. Heh, heh,...

Take two Blu's, drink plenty of fluids, have a good night's rest, and don't worry. Blu will not lose to those others. It is they who will have to worry about *obsolete* equipment and software.

For your first BD player I would buy the Panasonic Profile 1 player or the Sony Playstation which can be updated to Profile 2.0

Trust me I've made up my mind with Blu Ray, but I'm waiting for prices to drop or maybe next month they go on sale. I've seen other Blu Ray players from other brands such as Panasonic and Samsung, they look great too. I know this is a dumb question but, does anyone know of where I can find updated news on the Blu Ray/HD DVD wars?

An interesting history lesson: http://www.roughlydrafted.com/2007/0...vs-hd-dvd-war/
Some tasty pie charts showing blu-rays movie advantage: http://blog.pixelperfectproductions.com/?p=71
The movie sales ratio for hd media from the industry standard Nielsen Report: https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=8608
It is movie sales which will drive studios and retailers alike to choose sides.
Stores would much rather sell blu-ray players as they make a much larger commision from the hardware sales of blu, and because they are selling twice as many movies which equals far greater present and future profit.

Small battles have made up this war.
Blu-ray has won every one so far.

Just hang around here. If you read enough posts and news articles, you will get all the info you need about the war. The prices will drop, but not until after Christmas I suspect.
I bet they will drop for the annual red january... when everyone is put of money from christmas....

Its only a matter of time. By this time next year the war will probably be over, and Blu-rays will be everywhere.

I'll keep my HD-A20 as an upconverter. No need to wear-out my PS3 on everything.

HDDVD claims that they are outselling BD players, but common sense would say more players = more disks sales. BD is outselling HD 2:1.
