Default Better movie franchise - Matrix or Terminator

I love both but I think I'm going to have to go with Matrix. I know a lot of people disagree but I think the Matrix is a stronger set. Terminator(again people will disagree) was weak with its first movie and then got better.
Matrix - 5/5
Matrix Reloaded - 4/5
Matrix Revolutions - 4.5/5

Terminator - 4/5
Terminator 2 - 5/5
Terminator 3 - 3.5/5
Terminator 4 - N/A

The first Matrix blew me away. The other two were okay at best. The last two didn't even equal up to the first one when combined IMO.

Terminator, on the other hand, has only failed once IMO, and that was Terminator 3. I loved the first one, LOVED the second, the third was just horrible, and Salvation, which some people don't like, I loved it and rank it right up there with T2. So, Terminator FTW!

The Matrix - 5/5
The Matrix Reloaded - 3/5
The Matrix Revelations - 2.5/5

The Terminator - 4/5
Terminator 2 : Judgment Day - 5/5
Terminator 3 : Rise Of The Machines - 2/5
Terminator Salvation - 4.5/5

Terminator wins out right. The Matrix has only had one good film.

The Matrix - 4/5
The Matrix Reloaded - 2/5
The Matrix Revelations - 2/5

The Terminator - 5/5
Terminator 2 : Judgment Day - 5/5
Terminator 3 : Rise Of The Machines - 3/5
Terminator Salvation - 3/5

Both sets of films have there weak points but the Matrix just goes OTT with the rushed sequels.

I think Terminator is a better franchise. The problem with following up to mind-blowing movie, like the Matrix, is that they have to evolve again to create the same sense of amazement. The sequels felt very similar to the first (heavy philosophical exposition followed by insane action sequence). This is why I think Inception should not have a sequel.

The Terminator on the other hand is not a mind-blowing film as much as it is a great genre film. Terminator 2 upped the ante with successfully larger action sequences. Unfortunately for Matrix Reloaded, the technology did not match the ambition IMO and it detracted from the film. T3 was not quite a worthless film, but the execution was a mess for the bridging story between T2 and Salvation.

Great topic by the way. I have always though that the two series were very similar: Humans create artificial intelligence, A.I. revolts against humans, the present is actually the past, one man has the destiny to change it all, etc.

Yup, that last part about the two franchises being similar is why I made this thread. I do wonder which hero most people like more, Neo or John Connor.

I dunno, as far as I can tell, John Connor was a legendary hero who never wanted to be one, Neo died to save Zion and the people still trapped in the Matrix.

Tough choice. I vote Christian Bale's Connor. T2 Connor was annoying to me. Neo was pretty good in The Matrix.

If I could, Sarah Connor might take the cake.

Well maybe because he had Terminators trying to kill him as a kid, it gave him nightmares. He must of have been pretty important to go through the trouble of sending Terminators after him.

It's close for me (really close, "The Matrix" is my third favorite film of all time and "T2" is my fifth) , but I give the edge slightly to "The Matrix." It's a bit more well-crafted as a cohesive trilogy, whereas only the first two "Terminator" films really fit together perfectly.

If I had to pick a hero, it would be a tough choice too. John Connor certainly has the macho attitude (in "TS" anyway), and probably the best leadership skills and knowledge. Neo has the wisdom and power. For all practicality, I probably would pick John Connor (heck, he's a little better developed as a character anyway).

matrix trilogy for me. i've supported the 2nd & 3rd movies since i've seen them.

of course they aren't as good as the original, not many movies are. but it is all 1 long story so i like the fact that they kept them similar and didn't make any huge changes.

i never really was much of a terminator fan though either.

Terminator all the way for me. T2 is a classic that i have seen countless times as is the first Terminator. T3 is ok and Salvation is pretty good IMO.
As for Matrix i only like the first it's a 5/5 movie but i don't like the other 2 at all. I will take T3 over the other 2 Matrix films so Terminator is a big win for me.

I'd give this to the Terminator movies easily. I rank the films as follows:

Matrix - 5/5
Matrix Reloaded - 3/5
Matrix Revolutions - 1/5

The Terminator - 4/5
Terminator 2 - 5/5
Terminator 3 - 3/5
Terminator Salvation - 2.5/5

While I like The Matrix best I couldn't stand it's sequels (I give Reloaded a decent score just because I thought it would lead into a great conclusion, but was horribly mistaken). I thought The Terminator was very good and Terminator 2 was amazing and had groundbreaking special effects, and I think Terminator 3 gets somewhat of a bad rap and isn't horrible. I wasn't a huge fan of Salvation but found it watchable.

Lets first see how much each one scores so I can choose.

Matrix - 5/5
Matrix Reloaded - 5/5
Matrix Revolutions - 3/5

Terminator - 4.5/5
Terminator 2 - 5/5
Terminator 3 - 3.5/5
Teminator Salvation - 4.5/5

Hard to decide.

I never saw the big deal with The Matrix, but I still enjoy the movies. But I absolutely love all the Terminator movies.

For me The Matrix only had one good movie and that was the first one and for The Terminator I only like the first two movies. I'll take Arnold over Keanu.
