I think Terminator is a better franchise. The problem with following up to mind-blowing movie, like the Matrix, is that they have to evolve again to create the same sense of amazement. The sequels felt very similar to the first (heavy philosophical exposition followed by insane action sequence). This is why I think Inception should not have a sequel.
The Terminator on the other hand is not a mind-blowing film as much as it is a great genre film. Terminator 2 upped the ante with successfully larger action sequences. Unfortunately for Matrix Reloaded, the technology did not match the ambition IMO and it detracted from the film. T3 was not quite a worthless film, but the execution was a mess for the bridging story between T2 and Salvation. Great topic by the way. I have always though that the two series were very similar: Humans create artificial intelligence, A.I. revolts against humans, the present is actually the past, one man has the destiny to change it all, etc. Last edited by vegeta88; 09-16-2010 at 06:46 AM.
