Default tv stand

i need one that will allow me to place my center speaker, dish receiver, onkyo receiver and ps3 in it. does anybody have any suggestions? i have looked at a lot, but not really finding anything that will hold the center speaker nicely without looking cramped.

Not sure what you're room looks like, but if I didn't have an entertainment system I would seriously consider a wall mount, with a nice shelf unit underneath for everything else.

Finding an affordable TV stand that will meet the needs of most home theater enthusiasts is tough. They exist... but they are usually pretty expensive.

Depending on where you live, you can probably find a local cabinet builder/wood worker who can build one for you for less than $1,000. If done right, the materials and build quality will be better than a mass produced product and you get the added benefit of being able to size it specifically for your space and HT gear.

I designed mine in Google SketchUp (free 3d modeling software) then had a cabinet builder make it for me. About $850 after it was all said and done...

Thanks! It's not perfect... the builder took a few liberties that I wish he would have asked me about. In the end though I got about 95% of what I wanted, for way less than what I thought I'd have to pay for it.

I'm in the same boat, and am taking a similar route. I've designed my customer stand/rack, but will be building it myself as soon as I finish a couple other builds for the wife and for my workshop. Once I begin, I plan to document the project in a thread. Total cost "should" be <$250 for all materials. It will be similar to this, but with an open center speaker shelf in the center and perforated aluminum door panels to allow for ventilation and IR remotes to work.

I agree 100% I searched and searched for one that fit exactly what I wanted. I ended up having mine built. It cost me a bit more than $1000. I would definitely urge you to have fans installed. I asked my builder to do a push/pull config, but he just put exhaust fans in. It does a fair enough job though so i am happy. Check out my gallery for pics of what I have done. Good luck!

Your TV stand looks great. I did a kitchen install a year ago and also made them a TV stand. I used 3 full height door bathroom base cabinets(30" tall). I believe they were 24" wide and topped it with a piece of granite. Looked almost exactly like yours when I was done. It came standard with wooden inserts in the doors, so I had to router the back of the door to remove the insert and install the glass.
