do you have s-video, component or HDMI cables? I ask because you'll probably have to change your TV/video input channel if you do (for example, regular connection on my TV is TV/Video 1 and HDMI is TV/Video 6).

Also, when you change from SCART (normal connection) to HDMI (or component) you'll have to "change display settings" on your PS3. You need component or HDMI cables to go past 480.

You have to disable 1080p. Select only 1080i, 720p and 480p on the video options.

at first i was just playing the games on the wires that came with the system but i just recently bought an HDMI cable. so i plugged in my hdmi cable etc and basically no picture, do i have to change the ps3 settings with the old cables in first to get hdmi to work? bc when i did that it wasnt pickin up the hdmi cable. and the SCART how do i find that in the menu on tv? sorry i know its alot of questions. thanks again for all the help.

Ya, I personally suggest having both connections plugged in when you do the switch. It'll be in System settings on the XMB. [Settings/Display/Video Output]

The reason I suggest having both 'on', is so you don't have to fiddle with the back of the system to 'test' to make sure it's working, just have to switch your TV's input channel over.

Oddly enough, it worked fine for me on initial boot with just a hdmi connection.
