Even though you're currently planning on buying a HDTV, it still sucks ass watching HD movies in standard definition. When I purchased my PS3 first without the HDTV, it aggitated me until I got one

It will work, just you will not have the HD in effect. It is worth it stepping up to a HD TV, but let's not forget the sound system. Yes, one step at a time I know I know.

Lots of good deals out there on TV's and the closer you get to x-mas the better they will be or right after for the best prices.
