Default Warner finally starting to show preference towards Blu-ray?

It's finally starting to look like Warner is beginning to see the advantages that blu-ray has with its higher capacity

When checking out highdefdigest latest review of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix there are a couple of noticable differences between the blu-ray version and the HD DVD version.

First of all the blu-ray comes on a BD50 disc, and while they have probably used the same VC-1 encode for the movie, only the blu-ray version gets all the extras in 1080p HD while the HD DVD version gets the same extras in standard-def video. Also, the blu-ray version gets an additional "44-minute TV special" that's not included (probably didn't fit) on the HD DVD version Not only that, but the blu-ray version also get an uncompressed PCM audio track and A LOT of different foreign audio tracks compared to the HD DVD version. Yes, the HD DVD version has some slight advantages as well with the IME PiP and web stuff, but first that's nothing compared to 1080p extras, and second that is sure to change soon too now that profile 1.1 titles are starting to appear...

Combine this with the latest Warner BOGO sale on Amazon (only for blu-ray), and it's starting to look more and more like Warner is getting ready to say I DO BLU

If I was head of Warner, I would focus on delivering the best product available and only do it one way, one time instead of hassling with an inferior disk, and all of the variables I now have to deal with in figuing out what I can and cannot include on Jr. I would be so thru with this mess and chuck HD DVD out the window. Smaller profits compared to BD, so would it be worth it to me to also restrict myself on delivering top PQ and SQ just because Jr. cant handle it? Hell no. 2008, Warner will dump HD DVD.

I miss the pre-Paramounted world when logic and not bribes was the primary factor out there...

They are not showing any preference as the HD version has other so called goodies that the Blu does not.

Internet connectivity for one...but I did not read the rest.

Honestly I think it is a waste of disk space as I would never use it but heck...I am not 12.

My emphasis

Well they could miss that out for me too. I see it more as a gimmick than anything else. A few years down the line when HD-DVD is dead, all you'll get will be the 404 Error - website not found.

What a waste of time.

I was thinking about that the other day... This whole format war was much less stressful back then. Things seemed almost calm and peaceful, then Toshiba had to go and try not failing...
