Default PS3 owners: Who plans to buy a stand alone once we have a Blu victory?

Count me in. I have a PS2 and several stand alone DVD players.

I might buy a stand alone once the profile 2.0 stand alone players are commonplace.

I accidentally jumped the gun with that $279 deal.
Too good to pass up eah!

However I still plan on buying a full profile player after the war is over.

If I get another HDTV, I'll get a stand alone. But for now I only have one HDTV in the apartment, so my PS3 is all I need.

As soon as I hear it confirmed that the BDP-S500 is getting DTS-HD Master Audio via firmware update, I'm jumping.

Could not care less about the "interactive" parts of the spec. Enjoying perfect audio and video is the sum total of the interaction I desire with my movies.

Default Future Blu

From the beginning, I was eyeing the PS3 as a Blu-Ray player because of its tremendous price value, but when you couldn't find one on the shelves, I purchased a refurbished Samsung BD-P1000 for around $500 in late November 2006. The Samsung started acting wierd in the summer, so I gave it to my son to use while at college and got myself the 60gig PS3. I'm actually a lot more happy with the PS3 than the Samsung unit for several reasons.

I expect as the prices continue to drop, I will be adding at least one, possibly two more Blu-Ray units to my household. One will definately go in my bedroom and possibly another in my living room. The PS3 will still hold court in my theater room for many years to come.

I would only buy a stand alone after many years and if the new 3D technology comes out and not on the PS3.
In other words, I am not planning on it for a long time.

Except in terms of a BD burner. I plan to buy a BD burner as soon as possible, possibly next year.

I am waiting for a 2.0 compliant stand alone unit at a modest price. Once that is released, I will be purchasing that.

I will buy a standalone once the prices drops. I might buy another PS3, but the 40gb this time. Since its pretty much the best Blu-Ray player for the money, because it does so much more than just play movies.

I will once they have a 1.1 or 2.0 player that decodes or bitstreams DTS-HD MA and DTHD and outputs 7.1 for under $400.

Default I will definitely

I will definitely get one when it is 300-350 and can bitstream DTS-HDMA and Dolby TrueHD so my receiver can do the decoding.

Thats why I want another one too. I'm also going to upgrade both my daughters TVs to LCD and eventually put Blu-Rays players in their room too. My goal is to have a HDTV and Blu-Ray player in every bedroom of the house by the end of next year. Thats why I'm going to wait for prices to drop.

I might, if the PS3 never can decode DTS-MA.

I will, I don't really like using the PS3 for movies that much. Not likely to happen until next Christmas though, I need one that has internal decoding of everything with analog outs... pricey.
