Default Cost of prerecorded movies

I am not sure if anyone has covered this subject yet as I have just joined this site today.

Does anyone know or has anyone heard what the average blue ray movie is suposed to retail for? And when will the consumer actually see them in the stores :?:

It's supposed to be similar to dvd's in terms of price , maybe slightly higher with bigger capacity of course.

Pre-recorded media could as early as late 2005, but 2006 is more likely. Though initially in USA/Japan only. The uk will most likely have to wait til 2006/7. As for cost, it's too early to say. I would have thought that Blu-Ray discs would command a premium price of £25-30. Possibly as high as £35. Who knows. In my experience it's always more than you think it will be.

I was impressed with the way that DVD essentially delivered on its promise right from the get go. And now movies are so cheap that they are significantly affecting the CD market, which has maintained the higher price point for 20 years...

So, while I would expect that BD's are going to be relatively expensive, I can't see them being beyond $40 in the US at the start - DVHS tapes are $35-50, so that could be an indication of price point..

Cheers!
DAve.
