Default Cost???

Will the cost of BD's be more than the cost of current DVD's? Like will a movie still cost 20-25$.... Also how much will a blank disc's cost?

Welcome to the forum! Paramount has stated that their initial HD-DVDs will cost $20-30 so if Blu-ray wants to be competitive I'd expect similar pricing. Blank Blu-ray discs I have no idea, not even a good guess. I suspect they'll be quite costly at first but then come down to a buck or less each like DVD+Rs.

I remember when ram discs were first relesed in the UK they were £20. The same price as a dvd. Just a year ago the cheapest was £7. Now they can be picked up for less than £2 if bought 10 at a time. Though it's taken 3/4 years for prices to fall to that level. I expect that BR RAM discs will follow the same pattern. Though BR once record discs will probably be £10. Interestingly the first blank vhs tapes were £20 in the UK when released in the late 1970's. With inflation that's probably £100 in todays money.

HP is supposed to be coming out with standard ide/ata blu-ray burners in their pc's next year. I'd love to get a hold of one. But they'll probably be in excess of $1000.
