Default HDMI versus 6 channel analog

I am currently using my old 500watt (5x80 to surrounds) as an amp and letting my BD-P1400 decode lossless audio. See setup below. The subwoofer response is lacking sometimes, but the other 5 channels are terrific. Will I see a noticable difference with the Onkyo 605 using HDMI? Also, anyone with a similar setup as the one I plan to have(include Onkyo 605), How should I set the audio output on the Samsung Bd-P1400?

YES! If you use the Onkyo, then your receiver can do the decoding! You would want to set your Sammy to bitstream the audio out. Make sure you take time to set up you Onkyo though or do the Audessy set up if that model has it. but yeah, with your Onkyo doing the decoding you should notice a difference. On a different not, lack of bass while using analog outs is a common problem from what i've read. I think you are supposed to do an LFE level adjustment! But, not with the Onkyo 605!

5.1 pcm produces fabulous bass response in my system using the analog inputs.
