Goblet of Fire problems - Blu-ray Forum

Is anyone's copy of Harry Potter Goblet of Fire not playing? I just received a replacement copy from Best Buy and am trying to play it in my PS3. I have the latest firmware. Superbad loads and plays fine.

Did you check to see if it has the Blu-ray disc logo on it?

ya i ot the hddud ass version of it

effin warner needs to drop hddud so these mistakes don't happen.

Yea it has the Blu-ray logo on it. It did load eventually (a few minutes) and then didn't proceed any further after the piracy/copyright warning. I'm assuming there was a pressing/authoring issue.

From all accounts, sounds like Warner's Blu dept. grabbed the wrong stack of discs.

Did you accidently get the HD DVD version in your Blu case?

I've not gotten a chance to get at my Potter discs yet... they are for Christmas and haven't been purchased yet

No, it has the bluray logo and wont play in my HD-DVD player

wow , hd dvd discs in blu ray cases , discs missing and even if you get the right one it does'nt play , warner really screwed this one up.

Is there anyone from Canada who's having these problems? I'm in Toronto, and my set is perfect so far.

Just wondering if maybe Warner Canada got it right where the U.S. screwed up. I know mine's a Canadian set, because the title of the first movie is "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone".

Turns out that I just happened to have a bad disc. Went to Walmart and replaced it. Works now.

...and now that im comparing my order of the phoenix disc to the others that DO play....it cant be a blu-ray....the first 4 are shiny and smooth - obviously the hard coat.....and year 5 looks like the bottom of a cd.......................interesting

I will be returning my second copy to a different Best Buy today in hopes of finding one that actually works.

I picked up all 5 Harry Potters on BD and they ALL work GREAT on my computer's drive and my Sony-BDP-S1. I don't have a PS3. But as you can see it works on computer drives, stand alone units but not PS3's. WOW

Maybe you can bring the disc to the store and try it on theirs to see if it works. If it does then it's your particular PS3. If it doesn't work on the stores PS3 but also I would see if it works on the stores stand alone Blu-ray player to see if your disc works. If it does then it's a issue with PS3's. As you read above it works in my computer blu-ray drive and my stand alone unit with no problem at all. Nice PQ & SQ too WOW. Good Luck!

Yep, it works fine. I reckon you must have happened upon a faulty copy. I'm sure it will be fine once you exchange it.

Yup - my PS3 80gb (F/W 2.01) - is playing my HP:GOF as we speak with no problem. Only about 15 minutes in now - but it's working with no problem here. Also played HP:OOP last night with no problem. Don't ask why I'm watching them in reverse order - I don't have a good answer.
