What is the difference between dynamic contrast ratio and contrast ratio?
The new Sony tv's have, contrast ratio: 1300:1 and dynamic contrast ratio: 7000:1. Is the lower one for regular tv viewing, and the dynamic one for DVD, BD and gaming or something? Thanks |

The difference, I think, is that dynamic means black without any colour on the screen, and static is black with colours, so while dynamic contrast is a useful figure, its usefulness is outweighed by static.
Anyone feel free to correct me if I am wrong. |

The lowest number means the minimum while the dynamic number must be the maximum
![]() A layman term indeed :P |
