Default dvdtown can't spread the PS3 news fast enough, can they?

http://www.dvdtown.com/news/playstat...-us-sales/5002

An example of bringing up the PS3 as a blu ray player only when it's convenient.

This is obvious bias and no neutral journalism.
They should have mentioned though, that only the PS3 increased their sales at 300% and made the greatest jump of ALL hardware....

Henning Molbaek (Editor-in-Chief) is extremely biased in his news reporting and the main reason I stopped reading their site!

I don't know about the other 2-3 million PS3 owners. But, I got mine on Nov.22 and have purchased over 20 blu-ray movies. And have yet to play one game yet.

Sorry if this screws up the HD-dvd'ers theory.

Or just read my sig.

It means much when you have NO exclusive games, so this jump is indeed something to be proud of

I would never go to dvdtown for any of my information...they are obvious microcrap lovers and Sony haters ...

Fortunally for those of us on this forum we are able to take the unbiased view and choose the better of the formats/game systems/etc...

60 GB PS3 (launch day) and 55 Blu-rays with more shipping.

Three others I know of at work and all are used more for blu-ray than games.

On a % basis that's correct, but in absolute terms, no. So the complete story would have to include that as well.

Wii : 981,000 - 519,000 = 462000 increase
XBOX360: 770,000 - 366,000 = 404000 increase
PS3: 466,000 - 121,000 = 325000 increase

It's an uphill battle on the gaming side for Sony. Guess we'll see if MGS4, and Killzone 2 can turn things around next year.

It's a rosier picture worldwide of course.

I stopped accessing the DVDTown website a long time ago, not because they were so obviously prejudiced against Blu-ray, but because they're reviewers were CLUELESS. The writing was terrible, their insights and opinions were moronic, and I had the distinct impression that the whole site was administered by a bunch of high school kids that flunked English

It's a bigger increase than the 360 had one year ago.

In spite of all the claims, there hasn't been a mass quantity of people jumping off PS3 development for the 360.

A few casual game devs have jumped towards the Wii, but that's to be expected given the nature of the Wii vs. PS3 (and 360 for that matter).

For some reason people have always given the 360 the benefit of the doubt while railing on the PS3 for the same thing. Until Halo 3 came out, the 360 was selling like crap all year, yet you never heard anyone say "The 360 will fail!" nor "The 360 will lose exclusive to Sony!" People refuse to give the PS3 time to get blockbuster games, whereas they gave Microsoft 2 entire years.

Metal Gear Solid 4 will be the PS3s Halo 3...the first exclusive which is truly known on a global scale. Does anyone doubt that the PS3 will outsell the 360 that month?

The 360 (hardware failures aside) actually has some excellent games. It also has a decent interface, which is far more appealing than the XMB (I liken it to Windows Desktop vs. Linux Desktop).

It has the *worst* DVD player I've ever seen, and of course I don't touch the HD-DVD add-on, but as a video game console, the 360 really shines.

The PS3 may too one day, but when you're #3 in the market (as gamecube proved), you get the table scraps peppered with a few great exclusives (Ratchet and Clank, Uncharted, Resistance, Motostorm, and some '08 titles).

I bought the PS3 as my hi-def movie player and the 360 as my video game console. I'll buy some exclusive PS3 games, but in general, I use the 360 for game playing. It's not crappy by a long shot; just the company behind it is

The Gamecube didn't get no exclusive because it's #3, it got no exclusives because it's Nintendo.

Seriously, go look at the history.

The PS3 has a lot of exclusives coming down the pipe. People just don't want to know about it.

Nothing to worry about on the PS3 sales. There's an assload of people waiting for the price to hit $199. Thats the price point where both the PS1 and PS2 really started flying off the shelves, and thats what joe normal wants to pay for a game machine (regardless if it includes HD capability or not...which joe normal is pretty clueless about)

Also, a lot of people who are aware of HD, but don't yet have it, do not want to get a PS3 (or 360 in many cases) until they have a rig that can handle it. I think thats the main thing holding PS3 sales back. Its not just the price of the console itself, its the price of the TV you need to take advantage of the console...especially with all the adverts of "1080p = TrueHD!" and people don't want to buy a $500 720p set (which is good enough for a non-enthusiast) but yet can't afford a $2000 1080p set.
