I'd personally go with the Phenom but both are great processors.

I use to be a AMD fanboy until Intel started kicking their rear like there is no tomorrow.

Intel > AMD

easy choice.

btw...running a i7 right now, couldn't be any happier, especially when rendering 1080p videos and 18mp photos from my camera

I'm either thinking about getting an Intel i7 950 Quad Core or an AMD Phenom iix6 Six Core. Looking at those and a motherboard for them but noticed that the AMD Motherboards support 16GB of memory compared to 24GB of Memory for Intel

video editing and graphic design stuff. Well want to get into that stuff. lol
The boards I've been looking at have been in the $200 range. They're different brands I've been looking at. The one brand I keep seeing is the Asus boards.

A budget does help in finding the best combination for the price. Intel are way better right now, but most decent mobos are expensive also. If budget is not really a concern, I'ld go i7.

as far as that. The Intel i7 950 is $289. The ones around it are $400 and more. I can handle paying $300. The AMD ii6 1100 is around the same so that why I'm scratching my head over this. Only diffence is amd is a 6 CORE.

gotcha, I don't see you using more than 12gb or RAM for that

with the Intel you will be able to do triple channel RAM, not sure about the AMD. Plus the Intel has a higher benchmark rating than the AMD:

Asus motherboards are awesome

well if those don't come out until the 9th then I'll wait. Don't know the price. So I might as well find a motherboard right now to go ahead and buy. looking at these 4

if you are going to wait for the new processors, then none of those motherboards will work, the new processors are using new sockets

Well I just got the i7 2600k Sandy Bridge Chip. Was $306 with shipping and tax at Micro Center. Newegg had it for $329 so MC was the place to go.

Now in a couple of week I'll get the motherboard.
