A budget does help in finding the best combination for the price. Intel are way better right now, but most decent mobos are expensive also. If budget is not really a concern, I'ld go i7.

as far as that. The Intel i7 950 is $289. The ones around it are $400 and more. I can handle paying $300. The AMD ii6 1100 is around the same so that why I'm scratching my head over this. Only diffence is amd is a 6 CORE.

gotcha, I don't see you using more than 12gb or RAM for that

with the Intel you will be able to do triple channel RAM, not sure about the AMD. Plus the Intel has a higher benchmark rating than the AMD:
