Got Overboard and Four Weddings And A Funeral today at my local Target and they were both in the regular media sections in the A-Z blu section and found no problem finding them. At 9.99 each I though I'd get both and like one review stated, Overboard is a mixed bag, uneven color but a definite improvement over the dvd. The other title had a very good PQ and am quite pleased with it.

I picked up a copy today at my local Super Target for $9.99. The last one on the rack! The disc is BD50 with DTS-HD 5.1 audio. The extras include "Audio Commentary with Filmakers", "Deleted Scenes, "Making of..." featurette and "Two Actors and a Director" featurette.

Picked up HONEYMOON IN VEGAS today and took a brief skim to check it out.
Only special feature on this BD is a theatrical trailer. English 2.0 surround DTS-HD Master Audio (Spanish mono and French mono). The back lists this as a single layer 25GB disc with an AVC encode at 32mbps. PQ is so-so. Inconsistent. Some shots are buzzing with grain, others are much sharper. If I had to compare it to another BD, I'd say it looks a bit like the first PREDATOR disc -- lots of grain with some occasional softness (especially titles and opticals, etc.) Or maybe even similar to GHOSTBUSTERS which many people find too grainy. Personally I like it -- I'd much rather have the grain than some DNR smear job. I detected very little digital manipulation, no edge halos etc. This movie has never gotten much love, and this is easily the best I've seen it since it was released in theaters in 1992. I'm going to create an individual thread for this movie, as each of these titles probably needs its own. |

The Magnificent Seven has some severe sound sync issues! Just watch chapter 13, especially when the men throw their guns down on the table. The sound is noticeably way off. The mono track is also problematic.
It looks worse than a spaghetti western like this! CONFIRMED: And I can tell you the exact moment it goes out of sync: 1:23:53. When comparing the SE DVD (which has in-sync audio) to the blu-ray, the frames match up right to this point, where the blu-ray is missing 5 frames compared to the DVD (that's over 1/5th of a second, which is very noticeable). But assuming they used the same audio master, this is why the film is no longer in sync from this point. So MGM, I did the hard work for you. You're welcome. NOW FIX IT!! ![]() Last edited by Lyle_JP; 01-21-2011 at 09:40 AM. |

Go to 1:47:00 and watch them slam their guns onto the table. Maybe not everyone can see a 5 frame difference in lip movement but the delay in sound effects here should be easy to spot.

You are right. Went to that time, and it has a delay. Also checked it against the DVD. No such delay on that disc. Damn! |

i picked up Overboard and Honeymoon in Vegas today.
I hate how they made the cover art to Honeymoon in Vegas to look like Sex and the City. Watching Overboard right now and i think it looks great. Lots of grain but GREAT detail. Very happy with it. |

Bought:
The Cutting Edge Honeymoon in Vegas Four Weddings and a Funeral (and I picked up Wall Street, since it was only $12) Just popped in Cutting Edge, which I haven't seen since junior high. The picture looks grainy, but I remember I always thought it looked like a made-for-television movie, so it is probably the best they could do. The one I really wanted was Overboard, but the only copy they had was VERY damaged. Someone had forced the keepcase into one of those plastic security cases and torn both the plastic and paper. |

Checked with 2 Target near me today and neither had these in stock. I'd like Honeymoon in Vegas and maybe Overboard. Is the general consensus then on Overboard that it isn't the best but still an improvement over the DVD? I read someone said that the blu-ray has it in anamorphic where it wasn't before - my DVD copy is in widescreen . . ? Did I misread something or is there somethign different about the Overboard blu?
