If the local ones are priced between $25-30 then by purchasing the uk set you're paying no more than $10 extra (and depending on au price may actually be paying less) for the privilege of having it right now, getting 3 & resurrection included and also getting the extra 2 discs of features. In terms of value i don't think there's any way the australian single releases can compare. You lose out on release date, price and special features.

The only positives would be you are supporting local releases and the cost if you only like one of the films. I am all for supporting local releases but some of the costs are just too high. I don't make a squillion dollars so if something is half the price overseas that's where i'm buying from. I highly recommend importing this one if you're capable.

as for the cover art - yeah, it looks pretty average. I didn't like it when it was first released as it looked far too bland but the "3-d" version of it is pretty horrific. Apart from being a completely useless shape that simply stops you from lining other blu-rays flat up to it the plastic looks very cheap and the concept, although cool, doesn't seem to work being that it's all black. If the facehugger was at least the right colour that might be something to offset the impracticality of the design.
+1 . . . Spot on mate

I saw the face-hugger packaging yesterday, and thought to myself that I could not have that sitting in my collection, as awesome as it looks, it just wouldnt work being on my dvd shelf.

Im gonna buy the whole package from amazon. I'm due for a big spend and I might buy a boxset, Aliens, Godfather, or 1st six Star Treks...

I wish they'd just made a simple box for it, like the Planet Earth set that looks like a single BD release but actually has pages like a book. Strong sturdy plastic, none of this cardboard nonsense.

Single releases is great news for me too. I really hate the fact those other films even breathe near the first 2.

Some good deals here in the UK too for the boxset but I have the DVD set of that (£3.00 was as much as I was willing to pay so I had a very long wait -but I only wanted the full extras instead of updating the old Alien/Aliens DVDs).

No sign of them yet at Chaos or Devoted but my pre-order will be in when they show up.

Cover Art is now available.... I also note that the 4 disc set is being re-released on the same day, the cover space is still blank so it will likely be a new version sans face hugger....

not sure, although they are likely to be exactly the same discs that were in the set.

The disc art might be different because the 6 disc's in the Australian anthology boxset have numbers 1-6 printed on them.

Fox have listed a new Alien Anthology Boxset for release on the 23rd of Feb that looks like it will feature the 4 separate releases inside it!

Not good if you are trying to save space, but still better than the face hugger packaging!

I wonder if that means it's doing away with the 2 bonus discs then? I suspect it would be.

I have just added these to the database too

That's exactly how the Australian anthology boxset should have looked in the 1st places imo. I prefer a separate case for each movie, and also am not to fond of cardboard cases. Ill be buying that for sure, though it would have been nice if it come with the extra 2 discs which were included in the original anthology release, just so I could have them as apart of my collection but oh well it's not like I ever watch special features anyway.

Seems we are also the first country to be getting these films individually.

^ Yeah, I think that will make some people happy.

Chaos has listed the new version for $129. Pretty damned pricey @ $32 a film though. More than the original and twice as much as the UK set.

For those buying individually I certainly hope that the prices on those are a lot cheaper.

That's probably because hardly anyone bought the original Australian anthology boxset as it's ugly!

Thats friggin pricey for just 4 film's (considering the Star Wars Saga is only $139 for 9 disc's), but that case/cover is amazing looking and looks better than the UK Anthology art.

Will the movies be sold individually too? And will they have no special features?

They are being sold separately and the discs for the films do have some features on them, however the main bulk are on the two bonus discs in the Anthology. They comprise of the features found on the DVD Quadrilogy release but in 1080 as well as additional features. So yes, there will be some special features but not the bulk of them.
