Great news, I passed on the boxset - after buying the 4 of them on VHS once, and DVD twice, I have no interest in watching 3 & 4 any more, will definitely buy 1 & 2 though.

I bought the alien anthology boxset today, I actually don't like the boxart. I'm not to fond of how the face hugger is plasic and how it sticks out, it makes it difficult to put it in my shelf with it being like that. I haven't unsealed it from it's plasic yet so I might return it for a refund and just wait for them to be released separately next year.

I got it from jb hi fi, I saw the egg packaging while I was there (it looked pretty cool) but didn't buy it because I have nowhere to store editions like that plus I never like the fact that the discs don't come in normal sized (plastic or steelbook not cardboard) blu-ray case in a limited edition sets. I don't mind movies that come with a cardboard slip case but I don't really like packaging that is entirely made out of cardboard.

If u go into any jb store rather than ordering over the net then u can always get a movie a couple of days before the listed release date because they put out their stock as soon as they get it. Most of the time movie release dates fall on a Wednesday or Thursday here in Australia but stores generally get their stock 2 days before the listed release date. I always pick up new release movies on Monday's rather than waiting 2 days for Wednesday, I also got the gonnies, predators and grown ups on blu-ray today and they also have a listed release date of the 10th just like the alien anthology.

Yep, we put out the stock as soon as it arrives, which is almost always days before the official release.
I too am a bit "meh" on the facehugger that sticks out of the normal Anthology, but I'll probablly still get it. I don't like the Egg edition at all, I think it looks terrible. |

I think the face hugger cover is damn aweful and looks very cheap and I think its way overpriced here.
I'll either import (the better looking) UK version or just wait for the individual releases, as I only really want the first 2 Alien films on Blu ray anyway. |

I just took my alien anthology boxset back for a refund, I couldn't stand the case. I was expecting it to look similar the UK & U.S versions or pretty much like the jb hi fi exclusive x-men trilogy boxset from last year which looked quite good. I can't wait until all 4 of them get released here separately next year.

The only positives would be you are supporting local releases and the cost if you only like one of the films. I am all for supporting local releases but some of the costs are just too high. I don't make a squillion dollars so if something is half the price overseas that's where I'm buying from. I highly recommend importing this one if you're capable. ![]() As for the cover art - yeah, it looks pretty average. I didn't like it when it was first released as it looked far too bland but the "3-D" version of it is pretty horrific. Apart from being a completely useless shape that simply stops you from lining other Blu-rays flat up to it the plastic looks very cheap and the concept, although cool, doesn't seem to work being that it's all black. If the facehugger was at least the right colour that might be something to offset the impracticality of the design. |

I like my collection to all be from the same region and since all my movies are Australian versions I would rather just wait. Plus when things are sent by post there is always the risk of the packaging being damaged. I don't like creases, jagged edges or dents in my cardboard boxsets cover's. When I go to a store and pick up a movie I can see exactly what I am getting. Plus I'm not the kind of person who really cares much about special features, I've hardly ever watched any special features from my blu-rays or dvd's to be honest.
