Default Help me figure out "Remote Start Through Internet"

I recently decided to toy around with my Remote Start feature between my PSP and my PS3 because of the ability to play PS1 discs on the PSP. Remote Start works perfectly as long as I don't check the box that allows you to Remote Start through the internet. But that only allows me to remote start and remote play on my own home network, in which case I might as well just play the PS1 game on my TV. I cannot remotely start my PS3 from outside my home.

When I click the Remote Start Through Internet box my PS3 starts turning on and off by itself even when my PSP isn't on.

I would like to take my PSP to my friends house and play my PS1 discs through the Remote Play function, but I don't want to constantly leave my PS3 on.

Thanks!

(raises hand) Yeah, some Information for Dummies help, here, too--

So--with all the online downloadable "PS1 for PSP" games lately--I assume it's an iTunes/AppleTV-like feature where PSP (presumably now with the same compact power that the low-tech PS1 had, back in the day) can wirelessly "synch" with any specially adapted game-software downloaded on the PS3 hard-disk from the PS Store?

Would I be even further back if I asked whether you could even still play hard PS1 disks on a 60G?
(Not that I expect great quality, just that I never got around to playing FFVIII and IX, and don't even know if GameStop still carries used PS1 titles.)

Question #3:
Now that the PS3 seems to have since stolen most of PSP's spotlight, will South Park be forced to do an episode about those, too?

The new remote play feature allows you to put the PS1 disc into your PS3 and then play it wirelessly anywhere on your PSP. The PSP basically acts as a combination of a controller and a screen sending the PS3 commands. The PS1 games still save onto the PS3 and not the PSP.

It hasn't really stolen the PSP's spotlight. It's more of a mutual symbiosis where both systems stand to gain from this feature.

Now if only someone could help me set up how to turn on my PS3 with my PSP from anywhere other than my own home!

On some networks your router will ping the PS3 which will "wake" it. When that happens it will turn on and if you don't connect to it with remote play after like 5-10minutes the PS3 will shut-off on it's own. The downside is that is also shuts off the remote play from the internet feature unless you turn the ps3 on and off again manually. It even gives you that warning when you enable the feature.

Some routers cause this problem, some don't. Mine falls into the latter.

I Can't get mine to work via internet. It starts the PS3 up fine, waits to connect on the 90 second message. Then it comes back saying make sure your email ID and password are both set up on PSP and ps3.

So I went into PS3 account management and its exactly what I've put in the PSP. The password is correct because I got into it on ps3 but psp isn't getting in.

I can get in fine via private network.

Any ideas?

Got mine working now. I re-registered my PSP with my PS3 and I noticed when logging in via internet on PSP my PSN email address was already in the box with 2 capital letters. So before I was doing richieb1971@xxx.com and now after re-registering it was now RichieB1971@xxxx.com

It made the difference. So I would say the PS3 email is case sensitive. So delete your registration on PS3, re-register your PSP on PS3 and start over.

Now time to see if I can play wipeout.

Wipeout 2097 is uncontrollable via PSP, its like floaty as hell. It will probably work for simple games but I can't imagine playing like that on quick reaction games. The screen is also very small.

On wipeout it certainly felt that way, if I press left I immediately have to press right to stop myself hitting the wall and inevitably just kept moving left and right for self adjustment. It feels floaty.

I don't have a simple pacman game to try out. The main issue for me is the screen though, its pixel lated and its small (compared to PSP games).

You may have to tweak the streaming options on the PSP to get a better balance between video quality and button responsiveness.
