I actually saw that in a newspaper today when I was going home from school. Then again, that guy could've just 'shopped it onto the background image. I'm rather hoping its real, cos I'm a believer of little green men.

Hardly... Considering the distance from the rover, it will be measured in inches rather than feet. Another funny shaped rock and a trick of the light... or Martians holding a funny shaped vegetable show .

Sorry... I was incredibly right!!!

have a look at http://photojournal.jpl.nasa.gov/jpeg/PIA10214.jpg, which shows the "figure" in context with the solar collectors on the rover. It is close to the rover and incredibly small. There must be leprechauns on Mars.

Remember also that whilst viewing images of Mars you must also factor in that the horizon on Mars is much closer than it is on Earth, so things appear more distant than they really are, as we are acclimatised to viewing on Earth.

Equatorial radius on Earth = 6378 km
Equatorial radius on Mars = 3396 km

Rover width = 2.3 m
Rover length = 1.6 m

Also remember... never pick and argument with a woman

It's a rock.

Shadow and light can play a lot of tricks on human eyesight. Matrixing is a well known phenomenon -- especially all these so called paranormal investigators doing investigations in the dark and seeing things instead of with the lights on, or EVP's that is just random noise and our brain trying to figure out what it is/was.

Besides, there's not enough atmosphere, heat, food, etc. to sustain the basic of animal life, much less humanoid on Mars.

That said, there are some good pictures of possible running/standing water on Mars and possibly plant growth at the poles. I think the best we'll find on Mars is simply bacterial life adapted to the climate in the most habitable places -- namely the poles.

I'll go out on a edge here and state that I think that we'll find ancient ruins on Mars, but not life. The question is who made them at that point. Some will believe aliens, unfortunately I believe they are fallen angels.

Quite correct. Though personally I favour the chances of finding something at the bottom of Valles Marineris. being a low point water may have collected there long ago, and due to the depth of Valles Marineris, the additional atmospheric pressure (such as it is) might help in raising the temperature slightly.
