Now Harry Potter...This is a big win for HD DVD.
With HD DVD having 800k stand alones sold and Blu-ray having somewhere around 3 Million possible players (according to the BDA/Sony), this means a format with 3-4 times the amount of players barley edged out HD DVD with considerably less. This is great news and only makes what I heard that Warner would go HD DVD only make more sense. Considering Harry Potter is a movie that not only appeals to gamers, its also a kids movie which should appeal to the Disney fans of Blu-ray...apparently it didn't. Hell, I'm actually pretty shocked as I had said previously that I thought Blu-ray would outsell HD DVD 2:1 easily, which obviously didn't happen. Looks to me that HD DVD is gaining momentum, even if they continue to lose each and every week. Not surprising when Blu-ray has 3-4 times the amount of players sold and constant BOGOs to further skew the numbers. Keep in mind HP4 has been on HD DVD for close to a year now so it could account for lower HP Boxset sales and lower HP4 sales (not by much, but I imagine it would make a small difference). I imagine once some of these $99 A2s are unwrapped after Christmas Harry Potter will sell some more copies.

Oh ok, so now ps3's are counted as blu ray players? I thought the ps3 folks are too dumb to figure out it plays blu ray movies also...

You know, at least rats on a sinking ship knew when to abandon ship when it saw the water levels rise slowly. Yet, some people are just so delusionally optimistic that they continue to stay on a sinking ship until the last moment, thinking that the big gash on the hull will patch itself up. I guess they need to drown before they realize they should've gotten on the life boat.

Sorry for the strong imagery, but it just boggles my mind how some can always put a positive spin on such negative circumstances.

Consider what just happened these last two weeks. PotC3 week came and it was a 3:1 week. Bourne and TF were predicted to be the best-selling red exclusive titles.

TF did well, and by all accounts, Bourne did well too, easily beating the red-HP, the blu-HP and 2nd week POtC3.

But blu movies sold even more.

In spite of what some people say publicly, Bourne week going above 61 (remember numbers truncate towards 50) blu is not welcome news.

He's right. Why wouldn't Warner want to go HD-DVD exclusive and sell less copies of their movies? It just doesn't make any sense to support a format which they are able to sell more of.

I found it sumwhat entertaining. I want this war over like yesterday but I think I will miss the battles. If warner goes blu at ces it is going to be sweet but it will also be the end I think.

This is not a true statement HP4 has not been out on HD DVD for close to a year now. It just came out last week on Blu-ray and HD DVD along with all the other HP movies. There is no truth to what this yahoo is saying.

I think you could import HP4 from the UK or something on HD DVD. I'm sure the millions of HD DVD owners who actually did that really skewed the numbers.

yeah okay sure, HDDVD will win. EVENTUALLY THAT IS. This is the biggest bunch of crap i have ever heard. 800K players sold. Sure it explains why BD held ground during the black friday weekend at a whopping 79%. Where are they getting their info from.

it is called a verp, lets just say some over there could be losing 95/5 and the next week it is 94/6 and it would be a victory for HD-DVD. Reality and fantasy do not mix, I guess at least you only wasted money on a cheap player that is a helluva dvd up-scaler. Good luck with your paperweight and drink coasters. Keep thinking that the "Christmas gift" HD-dvd players are gonna help. We all know if you buy something like this you would at least buy the recipient some movies, does not seem to be happening. My opinions are a figment of my own reality, any same person knows HD-DVD is "good enough".
