Default Problems with new update. Please read.

I downloaded the new firmware update tonight, and as soon as it was done installing it my ps3 restarted. The only thing is, only the sound comes through but not the image. Please help me on this one.

No, when I turn it on it plays that little music sound effect, but the screen is black.

Or just flip the switch on the back for a few seconds and flip it back on.

Tomorrow, take the RCA (red, yellow, white) cables and plug them in to your PS3 and TV.

Disconnect your HDMI cabling for now by unplugging the HDMI from the PS3.

Press and hold the power button for ~5 seconds and wait for the double beep - this will reset the audio/video to default.

Change the input channel on your TV to the RCA connection - it should show the XMB.

Now plug your HDMI cable back into your PS3 (leaving the RCA cables in place for now).

Go to your Settings and select HDMI for your audio/video output.

Switch the TV input channel to the HDMI and check to see if it works now. If it does, then disconnect the RCA cabling, and you're back in business. If it doesn't, post back a reply here and tell us the results.

Sounds to me like the update didn't take right. Doing an update doesn't change settings, it might add or take them away but it doesn't change them.

I got scared because my install got to 40% and I'm not sure if I blinked but the next second it was done. Everything works fine and it won't let me update again, so hopefully im cool.

I think it's a little more than 40 but this is normal.
