Thank you very much. It is right before the holidays and I thought some levity was needed

How is this any different than when DVD's came out. I remember when I had my first DVD player that sat on my shelf for about 2 weeks until the first DVD was released. I paid about $800 for it and had to live with the fact that certain movies never played on my player. Some worked on Toshiba, but not on Sony, some Pioneer but not Sharp, etc. It was a huge mess and there were no FW updates and this was a reality for about the 1st and 2nd year of the format. This is nothing to complain about and you can continue to expect compatability issues until the format has aged, as it did with DVD until you get your 3rd and 4th gen players.

my 2 cents..

Default Problem with Underdog

I tried mine on the sony s300 at lunch and I have the same problem as the rest of you it loads up and gets to the menu but I can't get it to play from their I am going to try it on my ps3 tonight. Do you think of when they will have a fix for this issue. Armand

To be honest I don't remember any of that. Guess I'm getting old.

I had the same problem on my Sony BDP-S300. It seems that my error was hitting the "next chapter" button on the remote until I hit the menu. When I put in the movie and waited for eternety I was able to get past the menu and play the move. Glad it's only a rental from Netflix.

Hi there~~~
I just read your post regarding the s300 so all you had to do was just let the previews play all the way through without rushing them and it worked fine once you got to the menu you were able to just hit enter on play and it worked? Armand

(Also so everyone knows I saw on another blu-ray.com forum that all sony blu-rays were updated with new firmware.)

OK, here is what I have found works for ME and my S300 player. Put in the disc and let it start the Disney promo that begins with Pirates 3. You CAN hit the menu button on your remote to skip all the trailers and go straight to the menu. Let it load and do the Underdog logo stuff to bring up the Menu. DON'T HIT ANY BUTTONS ON THE REMOTE!! Just let the menu loop over and over and OVER again. Remember, as bad as you want to push that button on the remote, don't. Just lay it down for now. At the ten minute mark (I know it sounds absurd) the highlighted area of the menu will drop down from Play Movie to Special Features. Once this has happened, find the remote you set down somewhere ten minutes ago and feel free to arrow back up to Play Movie and PRESTO.

This of course is going to be a PR nightmare come Christmas morning when all those wrapped copies are popped into those new players!! I just hope those PS3s play it fine. I will find out when I (I mean my son) upwraps my (I mean his) PS3 Christmas morning.

For those with the 300 that might be why there was a FW update posted yesterday from the FTP Sony site. It is still not on the main site. As to the problems with the 95 I still do not have my disc yet. UPS lost mine so I am waiting on a new one. But someone posted over at AVS that a new FW was comming for the 95 as well. So this could be why.

Those with the S300 should update to the newest firmware just posted at esupport.sony.com. Version 3.70 seems to fix the problem of getting hung up on the main menu.

Well mine is not playing on the 95 either. The fix from the 300 where leaving the menu alone for 10 mins does let you play the movie. Very strange. They had said they only had one report of this problem so far. And I know it is not the disc since I did try it in my PS3 and it worked. Because of so few problems I did think it could have been the disc.

Hi Everyone,

There does appear to be an issue with UnderDog... There should be new firmware posted on Wednesday.... This new firmware features quite a bit of optimized code....

I have just begun testing and have had very good results..

Using the current firmware playing Underdog the movie took 2:22 seconds once the disc menu button was pushed before the first video was shown..

The new firmware took only 1:18 seconds..

I have not had the opportunity to try other discs yet...

I will be spending some time today and tomorrow trying out other Java discs..

Thanks,

Chris Walker

Yes it's a lame movie for most, but I heeded a Blu fix and had nothing else to buy. With that being said, I also have kids that wanted to see it so we just watched.............................it's still lameish cute, but I kept waiting for Earl to jump out from behind a bush. Oh snap, I forgot to tell you's all that it loaded and played in about 30 sec on my Panny 30 with no firmware update. Oh double snap, the PQ was great also. Go Blu!
