Edit: Actually it might be lower than 14. Maybe 12 or 13 even.
Well that should be fine then, I am still going to wait until I can get all 4 hours of the film with lossless sound, and by then hopefully we will be able to decode the lossless part of the track. I do hope Sony step-up and add DTS-HDMA decoding to the PS3, it would be great as the most popular player would then decode all of the formats losslessly.

Amazon has just priced it's Blu-ray disc of DANCES WITH WOLVES at $35.99--a "whopping" 10% discount compared to their usual 30% discount.

To make matters worse, this is the theatrical cut, not the director's cut.
Any takers at $36?

Good for DVD Empire - that's where I'll get mine from, or from the Amazon seller's marketplace.

Nope, I'm not going to bite on something that everyone and their mother knows is an obvious double dip setup.

Oh well, Dances in 1080p with DTS-MA 5.1 will still be worth it.
Not buying it. I try to limit my double-dipping as much as possible.

We all got shafted many times over with DVD multiple releases and it indeed looks like some studios are getting ready to do it all over again. I guess they figure this will be the last format for many, many years and if they can sell the same film twice instead of once one last time, why not?
Like the ROCKY BD disc with ZERO extras when a 2 disc SD SE was just released. shameful. Do it right or don't do it at all...

just my 2 cents

FYI, I confirmed with Fox today that this title will be released on BD-50. The picture should be very good.

Does anyone know excactly why Fox's releases are more expensive than the average BD? Is it the liscensing for the DTS-HD MA tracks (which are worth the extra $ anyway) or is it just that other studios are selling their discs at a loss and Fox has chosen not to?

Thanks paidgeek! That is a big sigh of relief!

Any other info? Like would it still be the theatrical cut? What about the audio options? DTS HDMA? Any extras?

They did that with X-Men Last Stand as well; super sweet DVD edition, but Blu ray only had a standard package. Makes less sense than an amish electrician.

And no, I don't think anyone is selling blu-ray discs at a loss. BD50s are reportedly $1.50 to produce (source: answers.com). Royalties for what's on them can't be that much more. More importantly, studios sell movies to make money, not lose it.

i hear that, that's why im hesitant toward a lot of these 1st released on Blu-ray movies and is the main reason im holding off on a lot of the titles. Each of the movies released on BD should carry at least whatever the best version of the DVD's have on them and infact should surpass it. i really don't want to be buying the same movies three times over.

Someone should be shouting this from the rooftops as a lot of HD-DUD dorks are spreading the mis-information again about this only being a BD25 title and inferior to the HD-DUD 30 quality... spread the word!

Thanks for the good news, Paid!

It is MGM, but their DVD distribution deal is through Fox.

it says it in "available formats" on left. also, i found it when I clicked "blu-ray" under genres, and it was like #5 under "more blu-ray" at the bottom where it lists those blu's with the highest rating.
