Hi,
Doe anyone have an early firmware version of the BD-P1000 player available that I can use to downgrade? Like 060605.01 for a region 01/0A player? The problem is - we upgraded to 060929.01 to play the movie Speed, but since that it won't accept the BD-R(E) test discs we author. Has to do with the fact that non-AACS BDMV titles shouldn't play (anymore) in Blu-ray players I guess. So now out testing tool has become unusable ![]() Any help is appreciated. Cheers, RX-Men-8 |

Any chance I could get a link for that file. i am attempting to produce some Blu-ray discs, but have been unable to as of yet.
Also, does this break Hollywood releases from playing ? |

As we've found, some of the latest releases need the latest firmware to be played. The movie "Speed" or "League of Extraordinary Gentlemen" for example will not load.
A firmware upgrade consists of three files in an ISO image, and we've done a little combining trick. We've put the old main file (the one with the name "poseidon" in it together with the newest files from the samsung website, one of which seems to be the disc loader. Now the new titles do load, and the new loader with the "dots" instead of the "hourglass" apparently works with these new titles. However, these new titles do not play well with the old firmware. Menu items sometimes crash, and if you resume into the main movie (skipping any menus) we found that the video decoding is making many errors (blocking). Apparently the old firmware is not ready for better codecs than MPEG2. But all of us knew that already didn't we ![]() Cheers, RX-Men-8 |

Is this old firmware available anywhere? We have the same problem... we can author blu-ray titles in BDMV format, burn them to BD-RE but the Samsung BD-P1000 just says the disc cannot be played. Please let me know how to get a hold of the old firmware. Thank you.

I just took delivery of the P1000 and it must have the newer firmware, because it will not play a disk burned with DVDit. I shoot underware video and have been doing SD for years, and am trying to complete my 1st HD project. I got the P1000 with this in mind, so you can imagine the frustration...
Can anyone please tell me how to get the early firmware? Thanks in advance, hugh |

Samsung latest firmware removed BDMV support. Rumor is they will be working on bring this feature back in a new firmware so that people that author discs will not run into issues. They supported BDMV when it was not required and dropped BDMV after it was mandated according to the following article.
Here is an article regarding this issue. http://www.emedialive.com/Articles/ReadArticle.aspx?ArticleID=12495 |

The latest version of the Samsung firmware is version 1.1.
http://www.samsung.com/support/productsupport/download/Model_Select2.aspx?type=Blu-ray&typecode=&subtype=Blu-ray+Disc+Player&subtypecode=&model=BD-P1000&filetype=FM&language=&LSSI=/include/SSI/us_left/LMenu_Blu_ray_Blu_rayDiscPlayer.sec&RSSI=/include/SSI/us_right/RMenu_Blu_ray.sec# To my knowledge every version of the Samsung BDP-1000 has been manufactured with Region A for BLU-RAY and region 1 for DVD. There is currently no way to change the region number on the BDP-1000 for BLU-RAY movies. Now there is a secret code that is able to make the BDP-1000 region free and region selectable when playing DVD’s. Here is the link that was posted before regarding that feature. http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/feature.html?ie=UTF8&docId=1000013623 Yes most likely the latest firmware 1.1 removes the region hack for the DVD player. |

I seen a lot of posts for people looking for the firmware downgrade so that BDMV can be played on a BD-RE disc on the Samsung BD-P1000, but I have yet to see a link everyone is asking for to downgrade. Where can I get this as I have the same problem everyone is having, but Samsung won't respond when I email them?

Samsung is only going to make available their latest firmware. There are several people that most likely have the old firmware on a CD-ROM but since the firmware is the property of Samsung no one most likely will place the old firmware up on their website for legal reasons.
The Samsung BDP-1000 owners only hope is a new firmware update will add BDMV features. |

Sorry to barge in on yr post guys, but a really quick question.
I think i might have made a bit of a boo boo - I've just bought a P1000 from the US - it's on its way now. Now whilst i realised that i would be limited to Blu Ray A regions, i thought given that there were region hacks all over the place for this player, that i'd be able to still watch my pal dvd's. However looking at the manual i noticed that it says it wont play pal disks whatever the region. Is this true, or does unlocking solve the problem? Thanks again - happy easter btw. |
