Playstation Eye for PS3 - Blu-ray Forum

I just got this for Christmas and was wondering if anyone knows of good games for this device? I really don't know what it all can do at this point. Downloading the EyeCreate software that says it allows you to record and edit video. Not sure to what end though. Also just bought something called Mesmerize from the PS Store for $1.99. Still downloading as we speak.

What's the killer app for the PS Eye camera? Perhaps its too early to say? I think it's only been out for a month maybe.

Mesmerize isn't all that spectacular. It's not even really a game. Just an interactive screen. Kids would love it for hours! I can see it being something that will come in handy if I ever have a group of people over to drink heavily or partake in other "not so commonly accepted" substances. So far, my experience with the PS Eye hasn't wowed me in the realm of gaming. It's mostly for chatting purposes with my half brother on the other end of the country. But, I d/loaded 'Trials Of Topoq' yesterday off of the PS Store and find it kind of entertaining. It's not something I'd spend hours on, but it's certainly more fun than Mesmerize.

So far for me it has been the microphone for on-line games - no headset and no complaints so far from the other end.

Operation Feature Creature I personally found a bit frustrating but my oldest child just discovered it and has been having a blast for the last 2 hours. Puzzle games are a favourite in general for child #1.

Trials of Topoq I enjoyed and will go back to..the oldest child just found out about it and is about to give it a whirl.

The Eye of Judgment is the premier game that features the PlayStation Eye, and it's a must-have if you were ever into collectible card games like Magic: The Gathering.

The other PS Eye games are hit and miss.

- Aquatopia is a glorified screensaver. Don't bother.
- Mesmerize: Distort is almost as dull, but as mentioned above, it's a huge hit with kids, who find the interactivity cool.
- Operation: Creature Feature is fun and cool, in a Lemmings-like way. A little lacking in fine control, but a fun workout.
- Trials of Topoq is the best downloadable title by far, featuring really intuitive use of the motion detection abilities, and a slick, polished look and gameplay.

I remember reading somewhere that the PS3 could take other webcams and do the same thing? Is this true? Also can the PS Eyework on the 360? There are few uses for it so I'd rather get the PS Eye which seems to be supported and save myself from paying for another cam for 360.

Can the eye toy be purchased as a seperate item? Does the PS2 eyetoy work?

I tried using a USB camera for the burnout Paradise licence and the software doesn't pick up on it, but chat does.

So what gives?

Mesmerize was created strictly for drug use.

All the apps are kinda lame, the fish tank is probably the coolest and it doesn't really do anything.

Learned how to play Eye of Judgment last night but by the time the tutorial was over I was too tired to play, LOL.

The game seems sick!!! Like chess meets Asheron's Call. Never got into Magic the Gathering (I think I was obsessed with pogs at the time, LOL!!!!!) so I'm very excited to finally play.

And the camera looks awesome on top of my 61" rear-projection. Like it was made for it.

Check around the internet but I don't think so. I think the Eye has higher frame rates than most webcams and it has an array of microphones for the sound quality. I'm pretty sure I read it does not work with PC's so I wouldn't expect it to work with the 360..but that's an assumption on my part and something I've never bothered to confirm.

Yes, the PS2 eye toy does work, and yes SOME USB cameras do work.. there is a cutoff somewhere I think around USB e to 2.0 or somewhere...

but the PS3 eye toy is built specifically for the PS3 and eye toy games.. so if you plan on playing PS3 eye toy games, you should probably get a PS3 eye toy.. if you just want to have video conference ability than go ahead use a PS2 eye toy, or compatible USB camera...

There is a sharp difference in quality between PS2 eye toy and PS3.. I have seen it myself.. like going from PS2 to PS3...

there hasnt been and is no camera in the works for the wii or 360. Maybe one for the 720 that everyones been talking about tonight

Its probably just the demo game limitations. I might work with the full version.
