PS3 PlayStation Eye - Blu-ray Forum

I am considering buying the PS3 PlayStation Eye for the mic it has. I like the mic on the Eye better than a headset because I don't have to wear anything on my head, I don't have to wear something on my head that is connected to the PS3 via a USB cord, and I don't have to worry about charging it. I could care less about it's recording options though, I would buy it strictly for the mic.

Does anyone here have it? How does it work with Resistance?

I haven't tried it on Resistance, but the sound quality is a bit flaky unless you're close to it, and you can't mute it.

You can mute it while voice chatting. I haven't been able to use it with Warhawk.

The mic is better than the picture quality IMO. It's a 4-mic array that locks on to your voice no matter where you are and amplifies it. I stood behind a chair 20ft away from the camera and spoke into the back of the chair and the camera was able to pick up my voice and it was perfectly audible. I've recorded music with my friends and you can hear the drums very clearly as well as guitar.

This doesn't need to be attached to your head, and it is easily my #1 choice over a BT headset for a mic. It may be tough if you have alot of friends over or a ton of background noise, but if you talk loud enough-- the mic will pick up your voice over the ambience.

As long as the game you're playing is smart enough to not ALWAYS broadcast your voice(I can't STAND games that do this)-- it will be an excellent choice for a mic.

Does anyone know if the Eye will work with PCs too? It would be cool if I could just use it as a standard webcam too.

Can I use the PLAYSTATION®Eye with my PC?

No, PLAYSTATION®Eye will only work with the PLAYSTATION®3 system

Ditto. So far the feedback I've gotten is no problem hearing me in Warhawk..and I'm on of those people who's voice doesn't project unless I make the effort.

Also similar experience of it clearly picking up other people from 15-20 ft and they were in the doorway to a separate room.
