Default Online shops stocking PS3 in U.S/Can?

Hi everybody, I'm new to this forum.
I feel I'm ready to support Bue-ray now...well I have been all the time, only I've been waiting for the PS3 to launch here in Europe.

But then I started thinking; I import most my movies anyway (habit from the early dvd-days), so why not import a U.S PS3 instead.

This way I don't have to worry about the regions and such. Sure I might not be able to watch some european movies, but I'll cross that river when that actually happens.

So on to my question: does anybody know of U.S/Can webshops (that are reliable) who stocks the PS3, and are willing to ship to Europe?
I think BB and Circuit City do not ship these internationally.
All tips are welcome!

Thanks for a nice place to hang!

FOR SALE PS3 listings on ebay is regulated. One of the rules is that the seller has to have a unique picture of the item that includes the seller's ebay account and as well a picture of the receipt from the retailer where the PS3 is purchased from. This is to ensure that the seller has the unit on hand before it gets listed and sold. Anyone who sells PS3 on ebay without following the procedures will result to the cancellation of the sale by ebay immediately.

Don't forget that you'll need some sort of voltage adapter. I would just wait if I were you. The movies will be all more expensive and you won't find service for the unit. Resell value will be less unless you sell it back to someone here.

Thanks everybody for your help!

It seems that any of the the big stores/chains don't ship the PS3 (specifically) outside US, so I think a smaller game shop or ebay is probably my best shot.

I don't think a voltage controller is necessary actually (internal switch, but different cord), and the movies are also cheaper than here (I buy most of my dvd's R1 anyways).
But most importantly, the availability of movies are far better in region A (and will probably be for some time).
Yes, service might be hard though.

The only difference between the Ps3:s ohterwise is PAL/Ntsc for dvd's and Ps1/Ps2 games, which doesn't matter for me.

If there were some indications of a possibility to make it region free for Blue-ray, my feelings might have been different. But I have no idea if this is gonna happen (or if it's gonna be software/hardware modifacated).

Oh and btw - Japanese/Hong Kong versions is easy to find though.
But my thinking is:
for now games are region free, but IF that would change in the future, US-games are probably gonna be easier for me to find/buy.

You won't need a voltage adapter, the PS3 has a universal power supply 100-240v. I live in Sweden and own a US PS3, the only thing i changed was the power cord to a standard computer power cord.

I was a little nervous before I hit the power button considering Sweden has 220v vs US 110v, and all I had going for me was a couple of guys in some forums promising me it would be OK (just like I'm telling you). It's better having a Region A player (amazon.com is so much cheaper for BD than any European store, plus you get the movies a couple of months before they reach Europe), and remember that it is region free for games . I bought my PS3 by a power seller at ebay, like I have done many other times and it arrived without any trouble.

So...just bought the 20GB PS3 on Ebay.
500 USD (...plus a horrible shipping cost...) from a canadian seller.

Hopefully I'll be looking on some blue-ray movies in about a week.
...and not a box filled with bricks...

Thanks everybody!

How much it cost for for postal expenses - like sending from US to Sweden ?
If it was strictly by law you shoul pay some kind of VAT because unit was shiped in from non-EU country ... did you pay it ?
How long it take (n days) from purchase to actually lay you hands on it ?

So...it has arrived!

First of all, Canadians are honest and god-blessed people, and my new favourites!

Second, I downloaded the trailer of Black Hawk Down for a quick taste of the thing called Blu-ray that everybody seems to be so excited about...

--- WOW! ----
On my Panasonic AE700 (720p fed with 1080i), it simply looks AMAZING!!
I honestly can't understand how some people are not blown away by this.
...I kinda feel sexual aroused...but hopefully not in a creepy way...

Fortunatly, I at least got 2 of my ordered movies (Last Samurai and Underworld: Evolution), and 1 game - Resistance.

The weekend is gonna be FUN!

The shipping to Sweden was 80$ and the VAT was supposed to be 25% of the total value including the shipping (I got around the VAT by pure luck) and it took something like 9 working days getting it to Sweden (during Christmas times).
