Default EB Games Australia not stocking PSP go

The PSP Go, with it's all digital downloads, is greatly changing the distribution model for video game console retailers. Apparently there is a growing number of retailers who at this point will not support the console.

Given that video game retailers make most of their profit on game sales - especially pre-owned sales, the lack of support for a digital download console makes sense. The lack of support will be problematic for consumers, and it will also hurt the PSP Go's overall sales.

Here's an article on EB Games Australia and Dutch retailer Nedgame's refusal to carry and support the PSP Go:

For the PSP Go's sake, I hope Sony figures out a way for retailers to be included in some software sales. I have no idea what that would be though, since buyers can just download new games in the comfort of their own homes. The official announcement that there will not be a UMD conversion program also hurts the Go's sales potential.

This news is a couple of weeks old and was covered in the PSPgo launch thread.

Very few retailers, mainly independants are not stocking the go, you can buy one wherever in the world you live. Reading some of these articles you get the impression they're trying to paint the picture that not stocking the go is becoming the norm which is far from the truth.
