Hungary Trying to upgrade Sony BDP-S350

I've been trying to upgrade this player for the last hour and a half, I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I downloaded the upgrade, burned it to a re writable CD and put it in the player and nothing happens at all.
Any hel?

Burning CD-R’s are a pain for firmware updates, they can crash the player sometimes.

I would connect the BDP-S350 directly to the Internet for the most reliable and fast firmware update. Even if you need to purchase a 50 or 100 foot Ethernet cord to connect it to the Internet it is worth it. You can also get a Ethernet to wireless adapter and go wireless with any old Blu-ray player that has a Ethernet connection.

I just give up at this point, probably have to buy a new player, firmware upgrading is a total pain in the ass. Had it directly connected to the line (After spending hours re arranging everything) and it STILL didn't work.

I see you selected the Hungarian flag icon. From what country/region is your BDP-S350; e.g. is it a US model, Hungarian model, etc.

Does the player display and messages on the display? Did you extract the .iso file from the .exe and then burn the .iso file as an image to the CD?

Did you burn the downloaded file without extracting the iso file from it?
Correct procedure is to run the exe file and save the iso file it generates. Burn this iso file to a CD and try that in your player..
I have a Sony BDP S300 and that's what I do...I assume yours would be the same.

Good luck.

I have the Sony BDP-S350 and it works perfectly when connecting it to a home network. It took less than 5 minutes to install the firmware update from a wired connection. Check your Internet settings. If you have DHCP on your home network there is no configuration needed. Just plug in the Ethernet cable to your router or Ethernet wall jack and hit network update.

If you are assigning a static IP address to devices on your network then set the correct static IP address.
See page 50 in the Sony BDP-S350 manual for how to connect the player up to the Internet.

I recently updated the firmware on my Sony S350 with the downloaded and burned CD method. Sony suggests using CD-R media - not CD-RW (though I don't see how that would make a difference). However, if you have write-once CD-R discs handy, try that.

The process is a bit different now. When the player first came out, burned CDs required the downloaded content to be burned as an ISO file. Now, you simply download the file, unzip the two files within the download, and burn the two file directly to the CD-R (data disc). Then, just load the CD-R into the player.

Agree that the S350 also updates nicely over an ethernet internet connection, too.

Good luck!
