![]() ![]() I haven't paid attention to any of the Terminator movies, but "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles" TV show kind of interests me. I think I will watch it. I was wondering if anyone would be willing to post a dummies guide to the Terminator story here. Maybe a paragraph or less to get people caught up for the new TV show. I'm sure I'm not the only one who hasn't kept up. I only need one person to post a dummies guide, no Wikipedia articles please. Last edited by MCWHAMMER; 12-29-2007 at 02:13 AM. |

Sarah Conner was visited by a man sent from the future to protect her by her yet to be born son. The Terminator was sent back by Skynet, which ruled the world because her son, John Conner, would eventually lead humanity against the machines. This was Skynet's last hope.
The man sent back ended up impregnating Sarah and thus became John's dad. He gets killed by the terminator and she raises her son to be a leader. Eventually another terminator shows up but this time it's to protect her from a more advanced model(this one was reprogrammed by John in the future). Sarah decides to destroy Skynet by killing the lead researcher, Miles Dyson. Dyson was working on a piece of the original terminator that survived the first film. He is injured but she convinces him to help her destroy Cyberdyne before they could build Skynet. They succeed and Dyson sacrifices himself to make sure they make it out of Cyberdyne. Ultimately the friendly terminator kills the bad one then gets melted along with Cyberdynes' original terminator pieces. Then in the third film another friendly terminator shows up to protect a young adult John from another advanced model. He ends up succeeding but Skynet still gets created and nuclear war breaks out. the Chronicles start before the third film though as Sarah had died from cancer. |

![]() Not to discredit any of it, I just need to re-read it several times to fully understand it. You did great! That was exactly what I was requesting. Last edited by MCWHAMMER; 12-29-2007 at 03:14 AM. |

Skynet= AI which will dominate the world
John Conner= young boy/man who will eventually destroy Skynet Sara Conner= his mom The whole premise of the entire series is Skynet must kill John Conner before he is able to grow up and destroys it. Think of it as if Hitler had a time machine and kept trying to send SS back to kill a young Winston Churchill. |

Watching T2 on Blu-ray might help clear things up... ![]() (And let's be honest, this series' made by the "fake" people who bought up the T4 rights from the other post-bankruptcy company that made T3... Which means this's the last of the actual James Cameron canon we'll see for a while, before the New Guys start having fun with their post-apocalyptic robots.) |

exactly. its like saying ''i am interested in seeing return of the jedi, could someone explain the other movies to me.'' granted the T series is not nearly as good at SW. but you can't explain all of that story in a paragraph. but mrbogey did as good a job as one can.
it looks like it COULD be awesome. but i'm afraid it will be ruined at some point. if it is done like some anime shows, where they write a complete story with a set number of shows, it can be cool. but if its like most tv shows where they just try and milk it for as much as they can, then rush to resolve everything before being cancelled, it will get old very quickly. |

Terminator John Connor sent his dad, who didn't know he was his dad, back in time to a) screw his mom so he could be born, and b) stop a Terminator from killing his mom so he could be born. Terminator II John Connor sends a Terminator back in time to stop another Terminator from killing him as a kid. Young John Connor proceeds to turn Terminator #1 into a P-whipped version who spouts one-liners before knee-capping the entire police department, and eventually stops Terminator #2. Terminator III Just imagine this one never happened. |
