![]() Presentation: 9 Everything is fine in the presentation, but it would be cool to see The Show get a deal with Fox and use Fox & FSN graphics! I'd rather have MLBN, but I heard they have a deal with 2k and of couse ESPN with EA Sports! Graphics: 9 Players look awesome, as well as the lighting! My only beef is the detail of the stadiums and the backdrop/skyline! Sound: 8 Not a fan with the 3 man team! Like someone said early in this thread, Karros' audio sounds different! Gameplay: 9 If it's not broke, don't fix it! Analog is going to have it's mix reviews, but my only problem is with the guess pitch, no longer there! (You will have to guess the pitch AND the location to get the location of the pitch) Lasting Appeal: 10 With franchise and RTTS modes, you could play this year around! Overall: 9/10! The Show will be battling NHL and FIFA for best sports game of the year! |

The game play feels the same but they've really smoothed everything out. I love how the game is harder to get hits. My gripe about 2010 was that there was way too many "center swingers" out there.
I don't really like the analog controls so I've switched back to the old controls of zone hitting and meter pitching. Played one online game last night and it was great. Only problem is that it froze before I can get back to the main screen. Apparently it's a problem and Sony is trying to fix it. Besides that, the game ROCKS ![]() |

I've posted this link on a few other sites, but I figured I'd post it here too.
I'm trying to gather up as much info about stadium music as possible, so I can make a giant pack of songs to use in the game, to make the game seem even more realistic. Here's what I have so far: https://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?...FE&hl=en#gid=0 Anyone can edit it, without logging into Google, so if you have a favorite team and go to enough games to know what songs they play, help me out! It seems pretty responsive, but don't know how much the angle of the bat affects the outcome as much as timing. The view for batting is a bit weird, because it takes away the player, and all you see is a bat floating in the air. You can rotate the Move controller around in your hand, and see the bat rotate on screen (so you can rotate the bat to see the logo on the barrel, or turn it away, etc). |

Has anyone else felt like the relief pitching in this game seems a bit unfair?
I've played 6 games in Franchise mode so far, and my relief pitching has been consistently terrible. I've blown, 3-5 run leads after the 8th inning, on multiple occasions already. Mariano Rivera's ERA is about a 54.00 or so, after a few appearances. What seems to annoy me is I do pretty good with my starting pitchers... 8-10 strikeouts, 1 or 2 earned runs over 7-8 innings. Then I pull out my starter for no reason, other than a set-up man and/or closer with full energy should be even more dominant, and shut the game down. But instead, the computer gets hit after hit after hit. I'm not even missing my locations or doing poorly with the pitching meter, they just hit everything. In one game, Denard Span crushed an 0-2 pitch that was out of the zone for a 450+ ft home run, to tie up the game in the 9th. He had 3 home runs in 2010. It made me want to throw my controller into a wall. |

I feel like its alot harder to smash some baseballs now. And the timing is really slowed down. You really have to wait out that Change up or Curveball now or your swinging a garden hose. And it just doesnt feel the same when you hit it on the sweet spot. It seems like a lot more pop ups and foul balls. Or maybe i just suck. Im sure most of you will go with the latter.

I'm 7 games into my franchise now. I won the first game, lost the next four, then won the last two, so I'm 3-4 overall. The first game was my first experience with the new game/controls, so I wasn't doing much other than guessing pitch locations and swinging away. By game two, I noticed the square/circle thing in the bottom corner, for power/contact swings. I started using those for every at bat (power for my power hitters, until they had 2 strikes; contact for everything else). I lost four games in a row, scoring 1-2 runs per game. By game six, I stopped using the power/contact swing options, and I'm hitting much better now. Ground balls up the middle, doubles into the gap, some home runs, etc. Basically, a good variety of stuff. So my conclusion is that "contact swing" is actually just as bad as "power swing" when it comes to hitting for average. Power swings are for when trying to put a ball into the outfield for a sac fly, or if you're in the bottom of the 9th and desperately need a home run. Contact swing, I think, might just be for when you need to put the ball in play (for a hit and run, or whatever else). I could be wrong, but ever since I stopped using contact swing, I've been doing better, so I'll continue to not use it (unless I really want to put the ball in play). Edit: I guess I might actually be right. In the instructions, it shows the controls for basic batting, and lists three buttons for batting: ![]() ![]() ![]() Last edited by toef; 03-14-2011 at 09:56 PM. |

Toef and Ryan, I agree with both of you. This years' gm, the hitting is alot more accurate to real life gm play as in past years' gms. I put on the hitting location box and noticced that the "power" swing area is only the size of the ball. While "contact" is just about the size of the entire box. I also noticed that with a power swing i was just htting the ball harder on the ground to someone or higher in the air. I've since then chose to stay with a normal swing. and since have had much better luck, and 3 HR's in my gm in Season mode.
As for relief pitching? Well, it just seems the umpire always favors the CPU when they need a few runs. I hit the corners and they call ball's. I put it in the strike zone and they get hits. Similar to what's happening to you guys. Anyway, I've been busy this last weekend have not been able to get a gm in. But Ima get a few in tonight. Im playing a short 14 gm season to get the feel for this years gm a bit more before I start an 81 gm season. BTW, im playing as the Dodgers and Rod Barajas is killin' it! The CPU even set him up to bat 3rd so i went with it to see what was up. He crushed one off Strasburg in his 1st at bat!! I'll post anything interested in a day or two. Laterz fellow baseball nutz!! |

i have an idea for the League that should be started.
We are all worried about people just quitting or not playing games during the league and screwing it up for everyone that wants to play. So if you really are dedicated and say you want to be in the league and say that you can play your games by the deadline each week, then why dont we have a rule. If you miss a game you automatically get a loss for that game, if you miss more than 2 in a row, or you quit the league, You will owe some money(set amount agreed by everyone that will get paid to everyone in the league, like $10 to each player) via Paypal or however else we can work out the details. SO if theres ten players you owe a total of $100 If you do not pay then you are not allowed to participate in the league anymore. Something like this should get only truly dedicated people to play. So lets get the league a rolling and lets work out the details. |

Also another alternative is member AU6294TX. He has experience running a Baseball League and I know he would do a great job. Just throwing his name out there.
As you can see. I'm trying push another Fantasy League other than Football ![]() https://forum.blu-ray.com/fantasy-le...ml#post4495803 |
