Default How do you all watch your movies?

I have a decent sized dvd collection but never really spent that much time sitting and watching movies. Now that I bleed blu, I do. I am trying to make the best of my living room setup to make the best viewing environment to enjoy my movies in. I have 2 windows that shine on the tv during the day even with the blinds closed so I am thinking of getting a black sheet to cover over them if I am watching movies during the day. So this leads me to ask how you all have your viewing room set up and what ideas you've come up with for optimal viewing ambiance.

Thank you. I wasn't really looking for ideas, I know how I am going to set up the room. I was more concerned with just a general consensus of how people watched them. Completely lights off, windows covered, etc....

I like to watch movies with a little ambient light from two illuminated fans on top of my tv.

Are the fans there for cooling your setup?

yeah, but for the most part they look really cool.

On the same power supply I have two non-illuminated fans about 1.5" behind my PS3 and XBOX pulling air away from the rear exhaust ports.

Ah, smart move. My XBOX throws off a lot of heat as well. So does the Motorola hddvr from Comcast. I can't have anything on or under it or it will overheat. Can't wait til I can dump that pice of junk for the HD Tivo

Move your tv away from the sunlight (even if that means rearranging your room), or get black shades/blinds or metal shades/blinds.

I usually like to wait until it is nightime when there is no glare or anything to draw my eyes away from the tv.

Hard to tell from the angle what the dimmensions were That is a sweet setup though, not even just the screen just the whole way you have the room. I hope you have a comfy recliner or something similar to lounge in while viewing

Nice to see a gigantic Johnny Depp nose in that screen photo, lol. Also, which PS3 do you have?

i have large window (140" wide) facing my 67" DLP, but have vertical blinds all across the window that shuts out 90-95% of light during day. i'm guessing i'd only get 60-70% with horizontal blinds. consider vertical blinds if you want daytime movie watching and have a wide window facing your tv. i can get 90% dark room at noon.

I dont have no problems with the sun shinning on my TV's as my apartment is in a basement and has no windows. So I can watch movies during the day on the weekends with out no problems.Of course if the sun is shinning and it's a nice day out I rather be outside. But if it's freezing cold out then I will spend the day with my Blu-Ray player and my nice LCD TV.

Right now I just watch my movies on a Sony 30" 1080i WEGA. But Blu-ray has inspired me to turn my extra bedroom into a theater room (with the g/f's permission of course!) so now we are getting a 52" Samsung 1080p LCD for the room, have black curtains over the window and I moved my surround sound in there.
