Default No "must have" titles for me until May 6th! WTF?

So I just looked at the upcoming schedule of releases and there really isn't a MASS SCALE MUST HAVE release until May 6 when Twister comes out. Even that one isn't a MUST HAVE like Spidey or Pirates.

Overall, this could signal a stall in the war the next 6 months as the releases are stale. Yes, there will be titles that come out by then that each one of us will have to own for one reason or the other, but there isn't a title that will get everyone to Best Buy at noon on tuesday during lunch hour to buy up.

CES will have to prove fruitfull in terms of announcing NEW must have titles!!

1. Indiana Jones to help with new movie?
2. Star Wars?

This could be a long 6 months for both sides???

Are you sure you aren't looking at the HD DVD release list? 3:10 to Yuma will likely outsell Twister, for example.

I cant believe twister can be remotely considered any type of must have release. Expecially since its a catalog title!!!!!

More people will buy the new resident evil movie than twister in blu ray.

just because more people will buy it, doesn't make it must have.

3:10 to Yuma isn't going to be a barn burner!! It will sell, but it wasn't a blockbuster release.

Twister isn't a great movie, but the PCM sound should be NUTS!!

I don't consider resident evil a must have either, frankly I'm not to keen on twister either, but I need to buy something after 6 months?

I see lots of BOGO"S over the next few months to stimulate sales in both formats.

For me, the only titles I 'must have' for the entire first half of 08 are Shoot Em Up, the Rock, Master and Commander, an ID4.

Yuma will be a solid release. It's a great movie with a solid cast that's popular with those who get movies based on the casting instead of the quality.

It should have good legs.

I think people are failing to take into account that they're only just starting to announce late Feb/March titles right now

Baron Munchausen is a must have
Life of Brian a Must have
Sunshine a must have
Across the Universe a must have
Run Lola Run a must have

just for starters.... I am sure there will be more announced before then anyways. But then again, it is all a matter of opinion.

"The Rock"
"3:10 To Yuma"
"Justice League: The New Frontier"
"Independence Day"
"Coyote Ugly"
"Unbreakable"
"Twister"

Those are all must-haves for me, and there are several other titles that are my want list that are being released.

I wish that Sony would release "My Boys: Season One" on Blu-ray, but so far, only DVD is mentioned.

sound should be great. I've seen it in HD already on Starz HD or HBOHD fairly recently and it looked a sounded great. Its one of those movies with a lot of colorful day scenes, and they looked very vibrant and awesome.

When is Predator released. That will be a must have title.

Man On Fire, 3:10 to Yuma, The Rock and Con Air all drop next Tuesday. You don't think any of those are must have titles?

For starters, there will likely be many new announced titles before may, so I wouldnt worry at all. Secondly, just because Twister is the only "Must-have" in your mind, doesnt mean there arent others for other people.

There are very, very few Catalogue titles that will have truly good sales, and I highly doubt twister will have any real impact.

Movies like We Own the Night, Resident Evil Trilogy, 3:10 to Yuma etc will have a bigger impact, mostly because they're new. If those other big blockbusters you named have shown anything its that day-and-date releases do far, far, far better than even the biggest name catalogue titles.

Breaker Morant

Das Boot will be out somewhere soon. Also coming soon Lawrence of Arabia and Bridge on the River Kwai.

I know they are planning to release all my personal favorites this year. They just aren't telling me cuz it's a surprise, right??
