Default Really funny post at hddvd.com

I found this at hddvd.com, and it's really funny. I'm not sure if it's been posted already, but whatever.

"As with just about everything else, we’ll just have to see what happens next. There are a lot of ways that this can turn out.

Here’s something to remember about your HD DVD player and collection:

* They still work
* There are still discs coming out
* You can buy stuff cheap from the people who are running for the hills"

The whole entry is here: http://www.hddvd.com/

I can't think of anything else to say but El Oh El

lol, he pretty much says every source on the internet doesn't know what's up, and only specialty websites dedicated solely to HD DVD know that this is just FUD.

I think you might want to go back and re-read the link - or I misunderstand your meaning. He's not in any way discrediting the Warner development. He's saying that a lot of speculation surrounding it is FUD - that's a given. Frankly, he might evne be thinking about the FUD regarding a Blu-ray buy-out - it's hard to say for sure. He's clearly not excited by the news, and that's evident. I think it was actually about as balanced a piece as someone supporting HD DVD could have written right now in the interim between the announcement and CES.

Reread it. Still sounds to me like he's saying the general news stating "the format war is over" is way blown out of proportion.

However, I think any educated enthusiast that's been following the trends over the past year or so know this news is HUGE, and it should be treated as such.
Game. Set. Match.

i have to agree, many people are jumping ship, especially the extremely new christmas buyers of hd dvd. I have owned hd dvd for quite some time and am going to keep my titles along with buying new titles for blu ray

Toshiba canceling their conference was a clear indication that there's nothing left to say.
I think they knew this was coming for a while now. They only acted surprised so it looks like they were blindsided as opposed to beat.
New Line's Shoot 'Em Up has been in the works for a while now and is their first blu-ray specifically encoded title. I don't believe that the timing is a coincidence.

Try reading some of their articles and you will find a somewhat neutral perspective.

Try reading the comments on these article, and you will find the most ludicrous FUD I have ever seen, ranging from "unfinished spec", "I have not seen a Profile 1.1 on the market yet, and when will 2.0 ever land?" to "I hate Sony, therefore I will never buy Blu-ray".

It is actually quite funny to read, yet on the other hand quite saddening to read that people actually still think that HD-DVD got much to do.

And if you really want to have a good and long laugh, try reading the news item on Slashdot, regarding Warner and Blu-ray - most are saying that downloads are much better than Blu-ray, and that Universal and Paramount can easily outdo the Blu-ray exclusive studios. A thread usually stops right in its track when someone rightfully points out that even HD-DVD is better than downloads, and that Blu-ray have actually consistently provided a better audio than HD-DVD. But then the HD-DVD fanboys bring up the usual argument of "no regions and no DRM" - well, that is the usual story they use - no region control just means that the title will be delayed worldwide, so as to not mess up any theater ticket sales anywhere in the world. Secondly, HD-DVD choose to also implement AACS, and since then for all intents and purposes, every HD-DVD title released, have used it.

I personally have stopped writing comments on theregister.co.uk, not because I do not want to personally, but because I usually end up being chastised by HD-DVD fanboys who claim the Blu-ray is the worst thing that has happened to the movies and the movieindustry itself.

My hope is, that this war is very soon ended, and Blu-ray is the sole victor, just so we can get away from hearing all that noise, because frankly, it is f*cking annoying over an extended period of time.

Rant over, sorry for being off-topic. Back on track.

Check this post out i found on AVS about the 360 saving DUD

Quote:
If priced right at say $350 that the current pro costs .

Go with this

80 gig hardrive
hd dvd drive
better quieter cooling

$350

They can most likely sell 80-100 thousand of them a month i'd say .

That could sway disney over
Those poor desperate fools...

It's not enough that the comment is so foolish than to finish the posting up by "That will sway Disney". These guys are out of their damn minds thinking Disney of all studios would ever change their minds.

As a PS3 owner I wouldn't find it upsetting hearing that a new ps3 SKU has been introduced with better features bigger hard drive and a free game all for 300 less than what I paid for mine at launch. One main reason being the reliability of the PS3, it has yet to fail me. Second reason I want Sony to be more succesful.

As a 360 owner I would find it upsetting hearing that a new 360 SKU has been introduced with better features, internal HD-DVD, bigger hard drive free games and all for 200 less than what I paid for mine. One main reason being the reliability of the 360, it has failed me twice and continues to fail me by scratching up all my game discs. Second reason (an extension of the first reason) the fact that they're selling systems that have short life spans.

I love how the article tries to defend the cancellation of the HD DVD conference as a postponement, as if a single presentation is enough to throw the whole thing out the window. These last HD-DVD defenders are holding on to every last bit of hope and are completely ignoring the fact that there is a reason why Warner chose a pre-CES announcement. The press release specifically indicated that the decision was made after a drop in dvd retail sales over the holiday season, therefore the logical move would be to support a future format, and BD being their choice. I quote the press release:

"The window of opportunity for high-definition DVD could be missed if format confusion continues to linger."

The pre-CES announcement then is pure strategy. What better way to get the ball rolling in support of their decision than send a clear message during the biggest electronics show of the year? It's check now... checkmate will be here soon.
