Default Ocean's Trilogy question

Ok so I have been looking to buy the Ocean's Trilogy box set and can not find it at any retail store. I might just snag it on Amazon cuz its cheaper. Has anyone else had this problem? and also if anyone already has it, is it worth buying? i heard that the quality could be better

For the fan only, but the PQ is not good at all and the AQ is blah (only DD 5.1).

If you have the DVD's save your money. 13 is the best of the three, and that is not saying too much. But 13 on Blu-ray is better than the DVD release by far. I would buy 13 on Blu (which is what I ended up doing after seeing all three of them at a friends) if you don't have it on DVD yet. All the negative reviews are accurate.

The PQ is hard to determine if it is a bad transfer or if it is the stylistic direction they were going after. Caveat emptor.

The PQ is pretty much exactly the way the director intended and how it was presented in theaters. The DVD's look much worse so I recommend the upgrade. As for the audio only being Dolby 5.1, the problem isn't with the codec, it's with the sound mix. And it's not even a problem, it's just the way the director wanted it.

Agreed, it is just not the type of movie that needs a great sound mix. However, it does a good job with the front three channels (which is primarily all they use throught the movie), the rears are hardly used. It is definately not one to showcase that nice spiffy surround sound system you got!

Note to self: don't use the word "blah" to accuately describe AQ

I just bought it this week, and it isn't as bad as everyone says. O11 is pretty good, O12 & 13 are average. Remember that the "grainyness" is intended by the director, so increased definition won't change the director's choices. The extras on O12 and 13 are worth the price of the trilogy.

Best thing to do if your are worried that you purchase may not bring the type of satisfaction you are looking for, give it a rent first, then decide. Remember everyone's likes and dis-likes are different, and only you can judge and decide for yourself.

Not really demo material but if you're a fan of the movies, they're well worth picking up.

I preordered it months ago directly from Warner, and it only just (and prophetically) arrived on my doorstep yesterday. So, even Warner had trouble supplying this in Blu to its own customers.

mine also showed up on friday from whv, i preordered in late september i think. the only movies they delivered in a timely fashion was the harry potter box set. i thought the first 2 oceans movies appeared as intended, the third one though the colors and contrast levels seem all off, i probably can correct by adjusting my tv settings, but seems strange i should have to do that for one film. i just got done watching it, overall pq better than dvd, i agree with an earlier post that its not really necessary to have high quality soundtrack for these films, it would be nice, but dd5.1 included still sounds slightly better than dvds.
