I have seen the official release of the disc...got it in our merchandising kit from Sony at Best Buy/Magnolia. The glasses kits for customers should be available in 2-3 weeks. It was set up as our new Sony demo disc. It is the cover shown as previously posted with a mostly purple cover and the lions head as the main graphic. It is 1.78:1, 5.1 DTS 5.1 HD-MA. The disc has a 2D menu, which features a 2D and 3D playback option for the movie. There are no bonus features. So far, from what I've seen the conversion is very poor, and even the basic PQ was overall lacking. However, I was viewing on a non-calibrated Sony display, so I'll post my impressions in q few weeks after I get to view the disc on my Panasonic. I can also post pictures of the disc later and the back of he case if y'all want...but it's actually pretty boring. Those who simply can't wait...the disc is available now if yo purchase the new Sony home theater in a box...I think the model number is BDV780 or something similar. The movie is included in the box. It is available now on Best Buy.com and even though the picture on the site doesn't show the disc, the disc is listed under "what's included" on the web listing.

That's the movie OAR spec. As per that one guy in pictures post ^, I've updated the US Bundle's disc Aspect ratio spec.

Here's the pics of the cover, front and back, and the disc itself. Sorry they are blurry, I was at work and had lots to do!

I have yet to see any electronics store, including BestBuy, carry this new Sony starter kit. I tried to look it up on BestBuy's website but can't find it there either. Does anyone know what is it listed under on the BestBuy website? Sony kit or bundle? Narnia 3D?

Man that sucks to hear it's 1.78 and 5.1. If only we had a 2.35 and 7.1 release of this movie like it deserves

The starter kit is not able to be sold until after June 1st. Best Buy won't have them in stock for at least another week or 2, though we do have the new Sony glasses by themselves. Much improved design IMO.

why are you complaining isn't 1:78 gonna fill the whole screen that is the best way to view a 3D movie when it fills the screen

So when is the official release for the 3D Blu Ray?
I actually heard the 3D conversion was great in the theaters and if its great there it is the same on the home video front

I would assume a fall release at the earliest. Fox still hasn't released Ice Age 3, so it could be a while. I never saw the film theatrically, but the conversion looked pretty bad on 3D Blu, it's not as bad as Clash of the Titans, and more like The Green Hornet.

Y'all are gonna hate me for this but I think this was a very nice looking 3D Blu, despite my earlier suspicions based on theatrical reports. At least, it looked very nice on my Panny. Really no pop-out to speak of but in many scenes there is a very nice delineation of depth. Much better conversion job than Thor and Clash got and a nice addition to my collection.

No hate here. I'd like to get a look at this for myself.

As I recall, the 3D theatrical screening was quite good for a post-job. I remember seeing a trailer for this one in 3D and thinking that it looked horrendous. But positive reviews of the 3D versions encouraged me to take a chance.

Some BestBuy stores have it playing on their 3D TVs. One was being played on a Samsung TV even though it comes with the new Sony bundle kit. Go figure.

I also can have an easy time believing that HD Video is probably a very natural choice to convert to 3D as opposed to grained-film. Maybe thats why I thought the film looked fakey/cheap in the original HD Video theatrical exhibition and looked fantastic in 3D (as though the HD original was an unfinished product on its way to 3D, as it were)
