Default PS3 $1 Billion behind X360 for the year.

I found this in an article about MS and their digital downloads for X360.

Quote:
"Speaking of Xbox, the president of the entertainment and devices division, Robbie Bach, will announce tonight that 2007 was the best year ever for game consoles, particularly Xbox. The device, its accessories and software generated a staggering $3.5 billion in total revenue, $1 billion ahead of Sony's Playstation 3 and $2 billion ahead of Nintendo's Wii."
Not bad for its first year only a $1 Billion difference in sales for the device, accessories and games. Considering the X360 1 year release advantage it will be interesting to see what 2008 holds.

Yeah, revenue, but how much income? Surely Xbox and PS3 are in nearly the same shape since the consoles (and the RROD problems) don't generate any income, when the Wii does of course...
Interesting, tho...

Wonder if that accounts for the $1 billion they had to set aside for the RRoD "issue"

While it is true for consoles, except the wii, the article mentions games and accessories which are what lead to profit for the companies.

No, only consoles, game and accesories revenue, not costs.

You should try reading the post and my comments to see that this is actually relatively good news. It means that the X360's lead is diminishing.

EDIT: $4B to $4.5B good thing you found that missing $0.5B.

yeah that is actually bad for MS if you really wanna look at it.

consiering all their replacements, and failure rates etc, they shoulda been well ahead of the ps3 esp considering that the ps3 sales didnt pick up till the price drop honestly.

the most anticipated game for X-Box is already out (Halo 3), while PS3 still has SOCOM, MGS and FFXIII still to come.

What? Five hundred thousand million? No, it's £500,000,000, give or take.
