I will say they don't support their Blu-Ray players, Hopefully they will realize this failure, and correct it in the future, because I believe they could have an awesome BD Player if they would support it as all the other manufacturers have.

You just have too much money! That's like $5000 between players and movies.

I wish I could have 2 Blu-Ray Players!

You're right. But it's not just the people on these forums with that opinion. I'm not sure that any product could withstand the kind of negative PR that HD-DVD is seeing now. And that PR is coming from both sides.

What was interesting is that leading up to this decision there were reports that Microsoft was tying any future funding on the format to future download deals. If true and in that light, it will be interesting to see whether Warner's decision will have a cascading effect on other studios.

Studios are motived to reverse the declining revenue stream coming from DVD. And according to Warner, one of the factors in their decision was that even DVD buyers were beginning to defer purchasing because of the high-def uncertainty. That's clearly something that could resonate with the other studios. Time will tell.

I would have predicted that dual-format players would have made the war a non-issue, as it did with the various DVD recordable formats. Are the licenses for the respective formats that expensive that they make dual players so expensive? One would think that the hardware would be pretty similar between formats.

Universal and Dreamworks are HUGE producers, and to be honest ALOT of my favorite movies are Universal or Dreamworks pictures.

Buying into HD-DVD now is just not a good idea for a Blu-ray owner, IMO. It's just nuts. Last month, not such a bad idea. In fact, I was going to get a dual format player mid-January (the BD-UP5000) if the status quo had not changed because there are more than a handful of titles on HD DVD that I want. Now, I'm not going to risk investing money on a dual format player. I have 0 HD DVDs currently and I'm not going to buy into HD DVD in the outside chance that HD DVD will somehow keep trucking along with only 2 studios backing the format. With WBs announcement I'm willing to wait until Fall to see what happens and I think many other BD owners that were considering going purple now feel the same way I do.

Unless there's no way out of their contracts, Universal and Paramount will bounce soon.

I've never bought any products from Toshiba before (even though I don't dislike the company at all), but I'm not about to start now by getting a Blu-ray player made by them. Nothing they ever made really appealed to me is all.

I would, I love Toshiba products. I've never had a single problem with any of their products. Shoot, still have a first gen Toshiba DVD player that still works perfectly. Can't say the same for other companies I've owned products from.

One little known fact that is funny in this whole war, is that Toshiba shot them self in the foot in an indirect way.

PS3's CELL processor is made in part by toshiba, with out the PS3 blu-ray may very well have lost this war, and/or prolonged it.

Even with out the CELL processor, I'm sure Sony would have still released the PS3, and assuming everything else was the same (BD vs HD-DVD), the PS3 would still have played Blu-Ray, But with out the CELL processor, the PS3 may very well have been delayed, and that could, and probably would have made a huge difference in outcome for blu-ray.

In the short term there is still a market for a dual player.
Aimed at people who already have an extensive HD collection and who already own a stand alone but want to make the move to Blu as well.

I don't forsee them coming out with any new models beyond first half 08'.
