of course, I remember OUTLAW JOSEY WALES being at my local theatre at the time as well....
![]() interesting memory on that-- I was 12 years old and I was ticked that I couldn't go see it cause the theatre put it on a double bill with the R-rated Magnum Force! ![]() |

![]() Tell me about it. I went to see The Outlaw Josey Wales the day it opened in July of 1976. Now we are celebrating it being 35 years old. Now Unforgiven is approaching 20 years. Both films hold up and are worthy of the admiration. |

Man, I haven't even seen this, and the BD.com review is so awesome! The movie is obviously a great piece of cinema just by the screenshots. The reviewer recommends blind-buyers, and I'd blind-buy any Clint Eastwood western. Although I haven't seen much. I haven't even seen High Plains Drifter.
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Eastwood westerns I own and seen on blu-ray (neither in theaters): The Good, the Bad and the Ugly For a Few Dollars More A Fistful of Dollars Unforgiven Pale Rider Hang 'Em High I'm also a Dirty Harry fan and love Gran Torino. Million Dollar Baby needs proper BD treatment (am I right?). Love The Gauntlet and Every Which Way But Loose and Any Which Way You Can. Also seen Changeling and Mystic River. I'm a bit hesitant to check out Invictus and Hereafter though... May rent Hereafter sometime. But there's plenty older ones I haven't checked out. I'm actually kinda holding out a bit on checking out those that aren't on blu-ray just so I can blind-buy the most promising ones and see them for the first time on blu-ray. But I still gotta do one at a time. So glad this is getting such a great treatment, that way it will be that much more awesome when I finally see it for the first time. But, of course, keeping my expectations at a reasonable low. ![]() Excuse me, I'm still young... ![]() Last edited by paul_66; 06-08-2011 at 01:55 AM. |

I got my digi-book for $16.99 at HMV. I had to buy another Blu-ray title for $12.99. No big deal since there were a few titles I need to buy. I picked up Tommy Boy.

I got my digibook yesterday, and watched it last night - looks & sounds terrific! And I just got back from Walmart and picked up a copy of the Walmart non-digibook for an online friend in the UK. Yes, the movie & extra feature specs are the same, the only difference is the packaging. For $10 less if you don't care about the digibook the Walmart version is a good deal. I got my digibook for $18+ tax, so I'm good with it.

My God, what a transfer. I felt like I'd never seen the film before. The detail is excellent, but it's the colors that really stand out. And there's far more depth to the image than I ever would have expected. DVD transfers have tended to make this film look relatively flat , especially compared to this new BD presentation.
In a word, stunning. Last edited by Oblivion138; 06-10-2011 at 08:40 AM. |
