I knew the extended edition would be coming. Hopefully we'll see it by the end of the year.

I think after they release T2: Extreme HD Edition, T2: Wicked Sick HD Edition, T2: Justanudda HD Edition, and T2: We Sucka'dyaintabuyinanudda HD Edition, then we'll get T2: Ultimate HD Edition. Basically the same thing they did with dvd.

Back to the subject. I sold my copies of T-1 and T-2 because there's probably going to be some renovations done to it like DTS-MA and more extras!

The original BD release will be good enough for me as I perfered the theatrical cut more anyways and have seen as much for special features on this movie as I really care to see.

I would think it would be coming this year and shortly with the TV series kicking off tomorrow night and the new movie announced and the other two movies out there.

Terminator 1 has PCM audio, why would you need DTS MA? It's lossless.

I don't think MGM is doing any new SE of Terminator either the current one is pretty complete and looks better than any 35mm print I've ever seen of it

T2 on the other hand majorlly needs a new version with lossless and the extended version on it. Wow, never thought I'd be ASKING LG for a double dip (which would make for the 4th copy of this movie I've owned)

i agree, i could care less about a director's cut and special features. When i saw the engadget article and it said "ultmate HD edition" i'm assuming it will be BD50 with dts-hd ma or pcm and maybe even re-encoded video(avc or vc-1) hopefully

Just got T2 on BD for Christmas. Would still buy this edition in a snap. Truth be told, all any studio has to do to get a double dip out of me on any titles released sans lossless audio is to add it to the SE/DC/UE/etc. I will pounce on any chance to add more lossless audio to my BD collection. I like additional scenes and all of that, and always hope for director's cuts and such, but for me the top feature is lossless audio.

I hope in the coming year we see more use of lossless and of seamless branching to put DCs on the same disc as the standard version. Stargate Ultimate BD would enter my collection as fast as T2.

IMO, something needs to be done. I was very disappointed with the T2 on Blu-ray. Not that much of an improvement on the DVD. When compared to something like Casino Royale etc... it was lamentable.

Understand also that T2's rights are amazingly split across the world. Just because Canal or someone else is doing this in Europe, does not mean whatsoever that LG is planning one here

T2 was shot in super 35, which has it's drawbacks relative to film grain. I haven't watched it on blu-ray yet, but just considering the source I doubt it'll ever look look as good as titles like Casino Royale. For the record, I'm not complaining about grain, but I am saying that the PQ should be judged on the merits of super 35, and not against say anamorphic.
