Question Best HTiB on a budget.

Hello,

I've made a topic similar to this before, but now the situation has changed and I wanted some feedback. I'm looking for a HTiB with the following prerequisites:

-Must have Multiple Disc Changer
-Must have HDMI in and out
-Must be roughly $450 +/-

I would also like to keep in mind,

-Decode as many Codecs as possible
-Would really like it to have a receiver for future upgradability
-Would prefer a powered sub

Thanks for your help!

Not possible!

Since you have a PS#, why not use that, and get a stand alone later?

You can buy a Sony STR DG 810 for about $300 online. It has 3 HDMI in and 1 out.
Boston Acoictics has a neat 5.1 speaker system, model MTS 100, for about $350 online. It has a nice 10" sub complete with LFE input & a cable.

That puts you at about $650, usung your PS3, and you would have a system that you will be happy with for years.

DON'T BYY A CHEAP HTIB, YOU WILL HATE YOURSELF IN 6 MONTHS!

Default it's possible

I picked up one for my wife last year at Costco for $400, sony model, had a upconverting dvd player (5 disc changer), receiver, speakers (and stands for the front or rear left/right, HDMI out on the DVD player as well!! The reciever was limited but my wife doesn't care and the sub was powered adn it really sounds good to be honest.

I suggest you go do some shopping at Amazon. Good luck.

you won't find a HTiB with all you want for $350...
Time to pick up some extra shifts on the weekends

I built my system when I was a teen in pieces...a little here and a little there. Then you can upgrade components as needed...if you get a do-it-all unit, if the optical drive goes bad, then you can't watch movies or play CDs.

If you want something with a receiver and HDMI in/out, you will be better to buy in pieces anyway. Look for sales and even online deals. I found my speakers 1/2 price on Bestbuy's website compared to instore pricing. I bought 2 sets to put together my 7.1 set-up and a second zone with 2.1 (I still have an extra center channel speaker laying around).

Besides, if you are anything like I was as a 16-18 yr old, you want to listen to music loud, not for the quality of it. Getting something really good now might make you hold onto it longer than you should when the latest and greatest comes out in 5-8 yrs later when you can actually afford it!

Thats why I'm looking for a HTIB that has both a reciever and dvd player, like this one here

So that I can upgrade in the future. I'm not looking for it to be the best thing ever, just so I can in the future

The DVD player part is for my mother. The PS3 remains mobile from my room to the theater area

I'm 19 and a college student and right now I'm saving my money up for a Onkyo HT-SP908 7.1 Channel Home Theater System which is the best HTIB in my opinion.

http://www.amazon.com/Onkyo-HT-SP908-Channel-Theater-System/dp/B000UN44HW/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&s=audio-video&qid=1200264128&sr=1-4

There's an Onkyo 7.1 system $437

http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss_gw...+7.1&x=15&y=16

You can later add a Blu-player that decodes over analogs

You'll barely get the reciever you want for the price you have, a basic reciever with what you want for $450

Default Best for the money!

The best one I can recommend for that price range, though it isn't a multidisc changer but the dvd player isn't attached to the reciever.

Onkyo HT-SP908

and you can get this unit on ebay, amazon and many other sites for less than the MSRP that is on the Onkyo webpage.

Since a lot of what your talking about it out of my budget, I have pretty much narrowed it down to four systems. I was just wondering what you all thought is the best of them.

Thanks

System One
System Two
System Three
System Four

Thanks Everyone!

hmmm...all those HTiBs
you know how long those will last for you?
you'll kicking yourself in less than a year wondering why didn't you make a right choice in the first place.

here are my suggestion
Fluance 5.1 set up $299

TX-sr605 $429

H-100 cinema series Subwoofer $200

as for the dvd player, just go grab one of those progressive scan dvd player for 25 bucks from Best Buy.

It is $500 over your wanted price but you know what, at least this will last you for years and years to come. Don't invest in those cheaply paper made speakers. Those HTiBs subwoofer is a joke.

By the way, i have the exact same set up, my room is huge and that system simply laugh at the size of the room.

This is one of the set ups I was looking at, but since I'm a newbie I thought getting the Onkyo 908 will be easier since every is pre wired and coded for easy installation. Is it hard to install a system by piece?

set up speakers is prolly the most easiest thing in the process.
I bought a HTiB in the past before so i just speak from experience, it is a complete waste of money in my view. Save up a little bit more to get alot better

Do you really think the speakers and sub in the Onkyo 908 system is really that bad? It does at least come with the SR605 though!

yeah, the sr605 is the only good thing that came with it, you might as well just buy the receiver separate and saves yourself $300. Come to think of it, with that 300 buck you could have much better selection of speaker beside Fluance, why settle for HTiB. I don't know if Circuit City still running the BOGO half off of Polk speaker but thsoe are great. i got a pair of polk for less than 150 bucks. Wait for the sale, don't rush.
