Talking blu-ray ripping hd-dvd a new one on amazon

I know amazon isn't a good measure of sales, but it really looks good right now on amazon. 17 blu in the top 100 sellers in dvd are blu, only 1 red. And I don't think many (If any) are in the sale on now.

Toshiba is going on a hardcore fire sale, Looks like the a3 is down to 130 something and even the a35 is 280 bucks.

Looks like a stock liquidation.

Yeah, looks like it's only $10 bucks off list price though, so not quite on the same scale as the walmart sale for the A2.

You're not kidding. I mean I've had nice paper weights with little studio support but this one is a steal! Comes with a built in coffee mug holder!

Maybe they would sell more players if they advertised them as a wonderful coffee mug holder with a tray that moves in and out for convenience, instead of a dead HD format that no studio's want to support (paramount and universal would love to leave asap) and apparently the consumers do not want either.

It's odd that the HD DVD add-on for the 360 has barely dropped in price while the stand alones keep falling. Strange...

Well BR has 292 DVD's for sale and HD DVD only has 86.

And those 86 titles pretty much suck..

Your forgetting one thing: Those audio/video "connoisseurs" at a certain science forum are gleeful over the fact that they have 100% support of material made up of inferior technology. Way to promote and embrace the best quality of next gen. audio and visual hardware/software guys.

What is AVS purpose again? Giving paying members/insiders free reign to push inferior tech that has no room to grow. I know, it's all about "finish specs". Well how about superior specs that has caught up to "features" not used by many (It's about the actual movie anyways).

My feelings also ... it's a fire sale ... rape 'em and run ... remember the Toshita's were priced < ~$100 last month (December), they were significantly outsold by the BD standalones. LOL

Have you seen the sales pitch? They are pushing HD-DVD players as compatible with DVD's and you can upscale them! Yeah, there are cheaper DVD players that do the same, not to mention that every blu-ray player does that too!

Desperate times call for desperate measures. Toshiba look to be selling their kit as quickly as possible - what would be interesting to know is how much new stock the retailers are ordering. If they stop buying in the players and concentrate instead of blu-ray players, then the continuation of HD-DVD is out of Toshiba's hands.
