PS3 as a DVR in USA - When? - Blu-ray Forum

It seems that a couple of months ago on here and in the news (crave.cnet.com) people were talking about the PS3 being able to record like a DVR.. I can't remember if it said it would require either a firmware upgrade, some sort of attachment, or if it was just speculation of a possibility in the future. Anyone know? I really need a DVR

Also, any recommendations for a non-subscription based HD DVR? (i.e. not TiVo, DirecTV, or Cable Company)

I had read that they were going to be rolling out this feature on the PS3 in the UK this year, but I didn't hear when it would be coming to the US.

This is only confirmed functionality for the UK. There have been rumors for the US or North America, but nothing from Sony.
