Ok so i recently got a new computer and i loaded Vista Ultimate into it and none of my games work. None of them will connect to any server the only thing i can do with the comp is play single player or surf the web
im desperate in getting this resolved cuz id like to keep vista instead of going back to winxp so thats why im even posting for help on here ![]() hopefully you guys can help me this is what ive done: so far, ive installed all the latest drivers/hotfixes/patches etc etc available ive got the vista firewall disabled ive got the user account control turned off ive nixed my router and got the net running straight into the comp ive told the games to run in adminstrator mode and winxp compatability mode and still nothing works... in BF2 i can see the servers but i cant see who's on them and i cant connect to them in other games i cant even see the server lists... anything involving connecting to a server it just wont let me do, the only thing im able to do is surf the web anyone have any solutions???? |

There are a LOT of problems with certain applications, utilities and games running on Vista. Doesn't matter what drivers or modes are selected... they just don't run, and of course MS is saying the publishers need to release patches.
Your best bet is to browse the forums on the web site for BF2's publisher (EA, I think) and see what other users say. I doubt you're the only one. Ironically enough, I have read some glowing reviews of people installing Parallels or vmFusion on a Mac with Windows XP and getting games to run faster than a Windoze machine. |

Thats a networking problem not a vista problem. Being that it just decided to work it could indeed have been an isp related issue.
Often times the default drivers that vista uses suck, if you have nvidia hardware it is always a good idea to go get their chipset drivers for your motherboard. Just because it has a driver for everything on your system, doesn't mean you want to use them. |
