Buy BLU just because? - Blu-ray Forum

I am a HUGE BLU supporter, but I notice that some people here seem to buy movies simply b/c they are on BD. Are you one of these?

not me, but yes, there are many 'collectors' out there

i know a guy who has about 8 different version of Saw on SDDVD. He just likes to collect...

nope, im really picky about which ones i buy. also, i can't afford them still being in school and all.

I buy what I'm interested in.

Admittantly, I'm interested in alot when they're blu. But no, I don't buy on certain days/dates to help the numbers look good or whatever.

I just buy when I feel like it.

My sister has told me that she plans to start buying Blu-ray movies even though she does not have a player or an HDTV yet.
The reason why is that some of these titles, like Sleeping Beauty, are only released for a limited time before they are put in a "vault" for 10 years. So the next time she would have the chance to own the Blu-ray of that title would be in a decade.
Likewise she is a huge LotR fan and would be likely to buy that just to support it!

I buy things on Blu myself, and one or 2 blind buys just cause its on Blu too. But not that many, not that often, and always after I hear reviews about the film.

I usually only get mine with deals......If that means waiting a couple of weeks/months...that is fine..

No, I buy what interested me unless there is a BOGO and I will buy a disk that I somewhat interest in.

i will admit, im a "collector" i also have a disease of where i buy too much lol. but all the movies i have a have watched and i do enjoy. im easy to please.

I really love movies, but i'm not a collector. I have 10 blu ray movies, most of which i got for Christmas and the 5 free i got when i purchased my PS3. Owing to the fact i'm still in school, my spending money is slim. I'll buy a blu ray if it is on sale, or if it is a movie i do not already have that i really want. the exception to that rule are the few i have on SD DVD and have purchased on blu because i like the movie so much i.e. Casino Royale

Unless I've seen the movie and know I will watch numerous times I won't buy and it doesn't matter how cheap it is.

Well I blind buy tons of movies and now I blind buy Blu Ray movies as well (Shoot 'Em Up, Resident Evil: Extinction, Superbad, Ratatouille recently) and I've double dipped on *quite* a few titles recently thanks to BOGO, but certainly it would be foolish to spend my hard earned cash on movies that I have no interest in.

I only buy movies that I really enjoyed and can rewatch. No blind buying for me, and no buying to support the format, my only intention is to support my veiwing pleasure. I do plan on replacing my dvd's that I do have with blu just because if it's one that I already love I want to see it in all its HD glory

Yeah same here but most of the time I have bought from the BOGOs the movies that I wanted.
