Default HDMI Audio vs Digital Fiber Optic

Hello

I amnew here and new to BR. I have a Onkyo Reciever and it is F/O digital audio. Is the HDMI audio better and can you tell a defferance. I don't whant to go out and spend another $600-700 on a new reciever if mine is just fine. Thanks for the help.

You cannot get the HD codecs via optical outs. You must use HDMI or analog, with a player that can decode and send it.

I reccomend you search the newbie and equipment threads. There is a ton of info there. However, HDMI is the way to go if you have the receiver and speakers for it.

A mod should come along an close this thread or merge with an appropriate thread.

Welcome....Onkyo is the way
Toslink (fiber) was limited to 5.1 and DD
the newer HD audio formats require HDMI
